I understand that Lemmings was actually so named because of the behavior associated with the animal. Obviously, they look nothing like the tiny rodents. The next closest thing? Probably the moth. Little morons will actually fly into fire and burn to death just because they're attracted to the light.

They were probably named for the behaviour Lemmings are meant to exhibit. Of course, this turned out to be a Disney fallacy.
