I'm sure many of us here own the Win95 version of Oh no! More Lemmings - well, nicely enough it runs on XP and even 64-bit XP (now that's brilliant!).

I'm also sure many of us know that the music is MIDI, so after getting my latest piece (Roland CM-300, sounds identical to a Roland Sound Canvas 55) I decided to see how they sound.

Well, they sound like the softsynth that comes with Windows, but much better. Reverb, chorus, far better samples etc.

I've recorded them, although not sure if any are missing (let me know). Directory listing can be found here, which includes the versions I've recorded and also the MIDI files for you to compare if you wish.

I'm sure the original MIDIs were composed on a Sound Canvas 55 - if you listen carefully, everything just "fits". Each note sounds correct to each other, nothing is too loud nor to quiet etc. I'm not an expert on this though, I just do recordings

Enjoy!

These are the Lemmings 95 musics, not the "Oh no!" ones. Also, "Lemtensp" of Lem95 does not end properly, there are some missing notes. I know that the sons is originally "like that" but I did modify the Mid and added the ending.

Anyway, it's very nice though.

It would make some sense that the MIDIs were composed for a Roland sound card.  I believe it's one of the more popular sound cards for PC gaming back in the Win95 days, particularly with MIDI playback.  (In any case, I know for a fact that DOS Lemmings 2 has that sound card as one of the options for sound and music setup, along with really well known cards like Sound Blaster and Adlib).  And as you pointed out, most XP machines uses what's basically a software MIDI emulator that ships with Windows, which just barely supports General MIDI and lacks some basic features such as reverb and chorus, so it's not gonna sound great compare with serious, real hardware MIDI cards.

Anyway, nice recordings.  Too bad the real game only takes MIDIs and not OGGs. :)

Lemmings 2 uses a Roland LAPC-I. I have the external version, the CM-32L and CM-64 (which is a CM-32L and CM-32P in one). The Oh no! More Lemmings MIDIs would not play on them as they are not General MIDI compatible. The sound card version of the Sound Canvas 55/CM-300 is the SCC-1.

The Win95 contains "Oh no!" with it though. Even the PSX version contains the same music.

That file doesn't even exist  ???

DragonsLover

Yup, this is because these versions use the original Lemmings songs with "Oh no! More Lemmings". If you play the Dos, Amiga or Atari ST version, the songs are different.

You can hear the Amiga ones here

Ji Hoon is right: there's no Lemmin1p.ogg neither Lemmin1p.mid and this file exists.

As stated in my first post, I didn't know if this was complete or not as my disc is laying around somewhere in the void.

Hey I got one question... where can I find a complete MIDI collection of the songs in ONML? I've searched tons of MIDI sites, searched around these forms to find dead links to potential files, and check The Lemmings File Portal too. There was one file on there, DosLemmingsSongs.rar, that came close. It has 1, 2 and 4 of ONML in it.. but I'm looking for the 3rd song particularly. Does anyone have it by chance? Thanks!

Oh, and seems like an interesting place here, might stick around here for awhile! Haha

Those are from me. I could try to make a MIDI of this song, but this would take time.
