Fun story - just now because of the "Replay after Restart" option I just found out that we have a Restart button even though I use it all the time (for me it's R)!  :lem-mindblown:

For me it always was "Replay" as in "please reset the level and run the replay".

So yeah I won't need the option as I want to always keep my replay, but if some people have interest in it the option is now there.

Even though I think it's more of a accidental replay loss source.

Default behaviour is to keep the replay when restarting; users would have to actively choose to toggle the option off, and by doing so they accept that the replay may sometimes be lost unintentionally (which will likely then prompt them to toggle the option back on!).

It's more of a newbie-onboarding feature than anything else; I anticipate that most users will eventually want the replay to be kept. It just means we don't immediately lose those players who are annoyed by the persistent replay.

Click-to-Cancel will be the more important of the "getting newbies used to replays" features, though. This one is more of a courtesy than anything else.

Quote from: Simon on January 22, 2025, 10:28:59 PMSure, newbies have turned off replay -- as a hack! Can't see how to cut it after rewinding? Turn the whole feature off! Please don't mistake this for a genuine wish to disable replay.

You'll fix that newbie confusion in a different way during play. Only after that, revisit this worry.

Maybe the "Replay After Restart" feature should wait until we've done other stuff, then?

Click-to-Cancel - this will likely solve the vast majority of newbie problems when it comes to auto-replay, especially in tandem with mouse-over panel hints.

Replay-specific Cursors - great potential here, we'll start with different coloured cursors, maybe add symbols as well.

Enhanced Welcome Screen - we can explain the Replay features, ask the player if they want to use them, apply settings accordingly.
