Since there's been a lot of buzz with impromptu Lix sessions lately, thought I'd lay down the date for the next session.

I did say in another topic already that we decided on Sunday 29th Sept, usually I agree the dates with Simon in advance so at least myself and him are available on the date.

We'll play at the usual time at 5pm UTC (6pm UK time).

Reminder: we use Mumble to voice chat, download this and then PM Simon for the Lix Mumble server info. Even if you don't plan on voice chatting, it's recommended to download so you can at least hear us :lix-cool:

I was asked recently, why do I arrange all the Lix sessions?

Answer: It just kind of fell into my hands to arrange the sessions over the years because there was a time where if I didn't arrange sessions then they rarely took place I found.
Plus I work 5 evenings a week and only ever have 2 nights off every week so my availability tends to be the worst out of everyone who attends (except maybe with the exception of geoo), so Simon thought it was best that I arrange them because if I pick a night I'm available then it usually is a night where everyone else is available and we tend to get good turnouts following that formula.

That being said, it doesn't mean that other Lix sessions cannot be arranged. Anyone on the forums is allowed to arrange a Lix session in a forum topic like I am here and you don't need my approval , it's just I go for dates where myself and Simon are available to play and we tend to pick Sundays because a lot of other people tend to be available on that day of the week.

You might not even need to arrange a session anyway, if you come to the Lix IRC at https://webchat.quakenet.org/ (type #lix as the channel and pick any username). We've managed to get small games going there recently :lix-grin:

Silken Healer

As you can probably tell from my venacular in IRC, I will join.

I've been practicing in single-player or with improtu sessions from IRC, etc. so it will be interesting to see how good I am. I hope I haven't been getting rusty, because I haven't been playing as much since school started. I did have this plan to come home from school, do homework/studying etc, play Lix, have a bath, and then go to bed but I've been so tired after school the only thing I can do when I go home is sleep.

Also, when I played an IRC session with Simon with a bit more structure, strictly in 2P to practice my defense on maps I already had the route down in single-player practice, I wasn't as good in Eggs in one Basket or Hanging Gardens then Rescue Rangers. It could be because I didn't practice those ones as much, or it could be that single-player practice just doesn't translate into multi-player skill as much on those maps. It could be that there's a spectrum between maps that single-player practice is no different then the map (e.g. Eggs in One Basket) and ones that are really different (e.g. Across the Gap). Other ways to practice without people are reading the guide, aim training, looking at replays, etc.

The Lix session was not for three weeks after that message. Does that mean your sickness was more long-term :lix-cry:? I hope you're okay.

Thank you for sharing this Blitz! Many levels I have never seen before!!

Flopsy

Thanks for recording the session Blitz, that's a useful resource to have.

There's loads of Lix levels Dan, this is just a small handful of what there is. I had a shortlist to refer to when we were picking levels in this session. Of course Blitz picked a fair few himself.

EDIT: Also this was my 1000th forum post!

Are all of those included in the official release of Lix? Because I thought I had gone through most of the levels and can't remember many of those in the video!

Flopsy

A few of the levels I picked may not be in the official Lix release yet, some of those maps are still pretty young.

I should probably have a look at my own levels I have submitted to the official release, thanks for reminding me.

My Maps are Not Released yet I'm planning to make an advent calendar out
Of them.
