The IRC bot keeps on saying there is a new message when there isn't in the LemOS topic.

Obviously there is going to be a couple of minutes delay, but could this be to do with the recent malfunction on the server? I think there might be some different messages. I don't understand all the URL peramters, but if you hover over the messages in the LemOS topic and look in the bottom left of the browser, it seems it's jumped from message 103401 to 103404

No, it's because the first two were self-deleted by WillLem. Any detail about why / etc is up to him whether he wants to talk about it or not.
My projects
2D Lemmings: NeoLemmix (engine) | Lemmings Plus Series (level packs) | Doomsday Lemmings (level pack)
3D Lemmings: Loap (engine) | L3DEdit (level / graphics editor) | L3DUtils (replay / etc utility) | Lemmings Plus 3D (level pack)
Non-Lemmings: Commander Keen: Galaxy Reimagined (a Commander Keen fangame)

Oh okay. I was just wondering because we had the site downtime and then I got notifcations for non-existent messages. Thanks for the clarification :)

I edit my posts a lot, so I usually delete and re-post if I've added something significant that I'd like to be considered in any replies. This means that if a user is in the process of replying, they'll see the "new reply" message and will hopefully notice what's different. This is especially relevant if the replies are coming thick and fast, which is very rare on these Forums but it does happen now and again!

Admittedly, it probably isn't the best practice to do this, but since a lot of my posts tend to be taking one side of a debate or making some sort of strong and/or controversial argument about something, I often feel the need to make sure I've been as clear and concise as possible, and/or that I've kept my tone in check and been considerate and respectful towards other Forum users in the debate. All of this usually means making multiple edits to my posts even after submission.

EDIT: Hehe, ironically I got the "new reply" warning when submitting this ;P

Silken Healer

Maybe one of the admins could make the "new reply" message also be for message edits then?

I've split this off into a seperate topic.

It isn't something I'm against; whether I find the time to implement it is another matter (may also be that SMF 2.1 has a built-in option for this, so once upgrading to that is arranged, it'll "just work" - but an upgrade to SMF 2.1 will be a big task given the addons and custom tweaks we've made).
