What games do you play?

Well done!

And Insane Steve -- link please!!!! I already have a set of 96 progressively harder puzzles that I'd like to share with people.

chaos_defrost

Scroll to the bottom to find it

You'll need a Tetris Atttack ROM and ZSNES to get it to work, though. (NOTE: I own a TA cartridge, so I have no moral qualms with ROMs in this case.)

I also can't figure out how to get them in progressive order, like in the game. I'm working on it, though.

I see; but unfortunately I don't have either of those

After hours of searching the net last night, I finally find this puzzle designer. The next day, Insane Steve finds the EXACT SAME ONE, and links to it.
I feel :mikeXD:

Oh, and I have created 5 levels already.

chaos_defrost

Well, you really opnly need the ROM and emulator to play them, not make them.

@Isu: Played the levels. #3 and #5 were a bit easy. #4 was clever, though. I might have done #2 in a way you didn't intend it to be passed, though. Maybe. Solving times were:

1: 0:41
2: 2:03
3: 0:25
4: 2:55
5: 0:24

4 was my favorite, by far.

I'll put up a few of my own levels soon.

EDIT: Here they are: link

These are rather hard, in my opinion. I figure their relative order of difficulty is, from easiest to hardest, 2, 4, 3, 5, 1.

But I'd like to play yours and Isu's.

Incidentally, I'm trying to decide which of my levels to convert to this thing..... all 96 would be pointless, as they start off very easy..... and I'm not sure about the mechanics. Some of my levels took advantage of the fact that on the clone version I programmed, it was possible to have three objects in a row or an object above an empty space in the initial position and nothing would happen until after the first move. I don't know if that's even possible on the real thing.

Also, one of my levels had 6 moves, which the editor doesn't allow:

X_X___
X_X_X_

chaos_defrost

Well, the emulator is at www.zsnes.com.

There's probably a Tetris Attack ROM on the same site as that editor I pointed out.

If your 6-move puzzle is what I think it is, that it, a two-column separated by a space separated by a two column, a space, and one panel, all the same, I think it's possible in two moves, but you have to be sort of fast.

X_X___
_XX_X_  -- slide bottom panel right

X_X___
_X_XX_  -- before the top panel falls, slide the bottom middle panel right

__X___
XX_XX_  -- if done right, the three shouldn't clear first

______
XXXXX_ -- and all five are lined up

Oh, good point, that would be another mechanics difference. See, in the version I made it was impossible to move anything until a move was "complete" (until everything had come to a halt). I'll have to look through and see which of my other levels will also have easy solutions under the "real" game mechanics.

This page has ROM downloads. Which is the right one for that emulator?

tseug

I have tetris attack on my calculator. :) I just downloaded a ROM, now for Isu's levels....

EDIT: Bah I can't get it to play them

Isu

Here is where I obtained a Tetris Attack ROM.

Yes, well I was just playing around with it. Very few puzzle levels in the original made a pattern out of the blocks, so that explains #2, but without knowing what you did (It's possible in 0:12), it's very hard to tell if you got the right solution. :winktounge: (PM perhaps?)

Yes, I agree, #3 and #5 are easy.

This is what I got for my levels:
1: 0:11
2: 0:12
3: 0:23
4: 0:13
5: 0:08 (I like the multiple chains in this one )
Although, admittedly, I already know the solutions before playing  :mikewink:.

And for Insane Steve's levels:
1: 0:12
2: 0:13
3:
4: 0:25
5:

#1 was fun, #4 was sneaky, plus, I haven't passed, #3 or #5 yet.

chaos_defrost

Well, my times were from first look to clear -- now that I know the answer to #4 of yours, I'd assume it'd take about 15 seconds or so. I don't know.

#4 of mine was just an attempt to make a really cool looking chain. I could've made it a 3 or 4 move puzzle but that'd be way too evil.

Whoas! My intermediate time jumped from 56 to 49.

EDIT: Cut my beginner time too: 7-49-306
Hehe I'm catching Nuntar ;)

Proxima

So here is a compilation of the best of my puzzles, arranged in approximate difficulty order

I've also been trying out Isu's and Insane Steve's -- solved Isu's 1, 3, 4 and 5 and Insane Steve's 2, 3, 4 and 5 so far. (With a move to spare on Insane Steve's 3, as well!) Unfortunately I don't know how to reset if you go wrong, except by pressing F4, but that also resets the timer, so I can't give my solving times.....

chaos_defrost

I just added the times when I messed up. To reset a move, A and S are used.

Ya, I found a 3-move solution to my #3, although it requires a somewhat advanced chain mechanism (that is, it wouldn't have worked on your editor). Would your solution have been possible on your editor? I also used an advanced clear mechanism on Isu #2, hence why I think it isn't the intended answer. #1 is just very difficult, for at least two reasons I can think of.
