Just bumping the thread.  :)  Any feedback on my new levels? If anybody's had a chance to try them, I'd like to know what my most common mistakes are, and how to correct them...

Don't worry, Weirdybeardy, I have been testing your new levels, and they seem pretty challenging, hehe!

Here is my humble & brief report of some of the levels:

-"Mustgofastermustgofaster!" is evil & wicked! Good Job!
-I have solved "Take It Like a Lemming (part 1)" after dozens of tries, but I still can't solve "Take It Like a Lemming (part 2)", ouch!  Good Job (again)!
-"Le Ming" perhaps is very easy to solve (for my taste), but the scenery is undoubtly beautiful
-"Thou Shalt Not" is a good 1-Lemming level, and its solution is not as evident as other "solitaire" levels. That also is a highlight!

I will post my opinion of the rest of the levels once I discover how to pass "Take It Like a Lemming (part 2)", d'oh!

(P.S. : Hope my opinion doesn't boher you...  :undecided:)

Nothing too difficult in this pack (for me, anyway). I agree with Ron that mustgofastermustgofaster and Thou Shalt Not are good levels, as is Lemming Gravy. I had to think about that one for a while...

On the downside, Le Ming is easily backrouted with its 8 builders. I don't know what you were going for here. To me it looks like the sort of level that should have no builders, just to be annoying (in a good way of course). I didn't like Lemmings Direct either - the novelty of hidden exits has long since worn off.

Overall I'd say this is a solid medium difficulty pack.

weirdybeardy

Hello people! All opinions welcome, so thank you all.  8)

"Le Ming" is probably the only level I built without planning it out first, and it certainly shows.  I could probably tweak to make it more challenging, but I made it when I was bored one day and just wanted to mess around with scenery...

"Lemmings Direct" - yeah, the criticism is totally valid there. Probably the cheapest level I've ever done. If I re-release the pack, I might replace that with something else.

I'm happy with the others. I'm especially glad that "Lemming Gravy" is challenging. I spent quite a long time honing that one, and I was afraid that there might be some blindingly obvious backroute...

In short, I've more or less made the levels I wanted to make, which is great! Thanks again for the feedback.   I think I know what to avoid in future.

That's what I like to hear!   Keep at it. I'm just happy the two levels aren't too similiar.  :)

All feedback welcome, always. Helps me make better levels.

The university is bonding my energies but i'm still there...
I found a backroute (again) in my mappack, i'll fix it the same time when I upload the next 10 levels, which is coming soon...

Can anybody tell me where can I download a lemming for win95? I can't watch your solutions until i have it... and I don't want to leave a backroute in it again  :P

You mean my solutions? Those are Lemmix replays, so you need to download Lemmix if you want to watch them (I kind of assumed you had it already :(). You don't need Lemmings for Windows to view the replays as long as you have the files for all the tilesets.

Besides that, Lemmix is much more useful for making and playing levels than Lemedit and Custlemm - once you get used to it.

I look forward to seeing your next level pack. I have some new levels of my own on the way, but I'm busy studying too...

Unfortunately, I couldn't watch your replays till now  :( I had to found the backroutes by myself. I realized that the wall of the pit on level 3 isn't climbable, and there's an another Koch...

SPOILER ABOUT THIS BACKROUTE
...which was intentional. Just wait for the second mappack and you will find the "fixed" puzzle.
SPOILER ENDS

There's a kind of gas spray trap in the brick level set which doesn't appeared in LemEdit... is Lemmix contains it too? Or it is only in the Amiga version of Lemmings? I'm courious...

weirdybeardy

I can't say I've heard of a gas spray trap in the brick style in any version of Oh No! More Lemmings.  ???  Weird. I'd be interested to know if anyone else has...

It's on Wild 11 - Mutiny on the Bounty, high above the path, so you can never realize it's a trap unless you are courious  :)
This trap seems to appear nowhere else in the game.

weirdybeardy

I've checked the level in Lemmix... No gas trap, as far as I can see. Maybe it's only the Amiga version...

I don't see a trap there either. There is a suspicious-looking piece of terrain there, but no trigger. Anyway...

My 4th level pack is done! Download it here. I've put a little more effort towards making the levels look good for this pack - hopefully this is noticeable. Any feedback would be much appreciated ;).
