Oh.

I actually wrote a review for Sunsoft 12, believing that if I did 11, someone would beat me to it but that doesn't seem to have happened yet.

Sunsoft 11 - Turn around and look

5 Builders
3 Bashers
2 Miners

Save 45/50 (90%)
RR 01
5 minutes

Good: a good concept for a level.
Bad: should've been checked for shortcuts!

Conway

Sunsoft 12 - Water Processing Plant
  Save: 49/50
  Time: 3 minutes
  RR: 1
  Skills:
    Floaters: 1
    Builders: 7
    Bashers: 1
    Miners: 2

Good: Looks fairly complex, but it isn't really.
Bad: Like many Sunsoft levels, it doesn't really seem like 'Sunsoft material'.

Special_Gunpowder

I love "Water processing plant". A lot of these Sunsoft levels seem to be based on places - coal mines, botanical gardens, sheet music. Great stuff.

Sunsoft 13 - Doomsday

20 of everything

Save 40/50 (80%)
RR 01

Good: there's a monster in it! Just like "Hunt The Nessy"!
Bad: 20 of all skills? Save 80%? In 5 minutes? What is this, Present?!

I can't do "No world without you" and Ahribar's reserved "Exodus!"...but I don't think I can bear to review another easy, multiple skill level ("Mr. Lemming's House" ). Can I do "Cave quest"?

Proxima

Why can't you do "No world without you"? ........you surely can't mean that you can't complete it?!?

Special_Gunpowder

No, I meant 'coz you're only supposed to review one level at a time in this thread, right?

Proxima

Yeah, of course.  :)  Sorry!

Special_Gunpowder

Proxima

OK........ looks like I'll have to do this one instead then.

(BTW, the original reason I reserved "Exodus" was just that I couldn't pass Present 30, and Exodus, being an ONML remake, is the one Sunsoft level I could review anyway. But I've decided to shelve my pride and skip Present 30 (and Sunsoft 9) so I should be able to stay in the game a little while longer.

Sunsoft 14: No world without you

1 climber, 4 builders, 4 bashers, 1 digger
To save 100% of 2
Release rate 90
5 minutes

Good: Nice layout, quite fun to do, and I like the title. (But then, I've just fallen in love for the first time -- I would!)
Bad: no puzzle to it at all. If anything it's easier than the Mayhem version!

Special_Gunpowder

Sunsoft 15 - Exodus!

5 Climbers
4 Floaters
5 Blockers
4 Builders
1 Basher

Save 50/50 (100%)
RR 01
3 minutes

Good: funnily enough, I think this is one of the better looking sand levels, even though it's a remake.
Bad: bit easy for its position...would've been better earlier in the set. Also, what's with the excess climbers, floaters and blockers? Are they just supposed to be red herrings?

I always thought this level would be better if the trapdoor was placed so that they would fall too far once the basher had passed, thus meaning you'd have to speed up the release rate early.

Can't you just start off building over the landpoing point so that they could never fall too far?  So in other words you'd need one less builder also.

Special_Gunpowder

That's a good observation, although I usually use up all my builders in that level - one to turn the athlete around before the trap, two to time the basher just right and one to turn him around again (I always fluff if I try to make the builder bash before he turns, at least in Oh No!).

Proxima

<sniff> It had to go to someone else, but I do love that level. Stumped me for ages when I first saw it in ONML..... and yes, its appearance in the remade graphics is just stunning.

Anyhow, on we go:

Sunsoft 16: Here is Mr Lemming's house

0 climbers or floaters, 10 of everything else

Save 80% of 50
Release rate 1
5 minutes

Good: nice layout. Could have been interesting to try and make it into a hard level.
Bad: do we _really_ need another lots-of-everything level at this stage?

Special_Gunpowder

It probably didn't have to go to me but we would've been here a long time if we'd waited otherwise.

Sunsoft 17 - Cave quest

2 Climbers
3 Floaters
5 Bombers
1 Blocker
5 Builders
3 Bashers
3 Miners
3 Diggers

Save 10/10 (100%)
RR 10
5 minutes

Good: top layout, multiple solutions, albeit some that are just plain annoying to pull off (ceiling route, anyone?).
Bad: another hidden boulder trap that will immediately sabotage your first attempt to tackle the level (unless you're smart enough to take a detour).

Proxima

Sunsoft 18: SUNSOFT Special

Good: nice music. Though I think it would get rather irritating if it occurred on more than one level.
Bad: the other "specials" were short breathers in the middle of hard sets. This is *yawn* yet another very easy level *yawn* in a set that, in spite of its reputation, has so far come up with a significant challenge once, ONCE in eighteen attempts. *yawn* Fortunately, it's about to get better.....

Conway

Oh yes, that ceiling route is ace!

  Congrats man! 8)

  Sunsoft 18 - SUNSOFT Special
  Save: 48/60
  Time: 3 minutes
  RR: 20
  Skills: 20 or everything

  Good: Cute little creatures!

Bad: Could have been made just a little harder by giving it a 100% target, 10, or even 5 of everything, and 2 minutes! I mean, some tricky levels are harder than this!
