Come on please! COME ON! :-(

Can we all forget all this and turn back to the real subject of the topic please?

Reopened! But just to ask where I can download and play these Cheapo recreations that were being reviewed. Adam?

Adam

I lost all my stuff in a PC Crash but Ahribar *should* have them.

Please could I start a new topic for exclusive levels

Conway

Lol! You don't have to ask to start new topics. B)

Here's a question: is anyone else familiar with the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive version of Lemmings? Because that game had some fantastic exclusive levels - some up there with Havoc -  that I'd love to review. Trouble is I can't find any decent images of levels apart from the small, bizarrely formed ones used at http://www.deveria.com/alexis/lemmings/lemmings/gen/gencodes.html (sorry, haven't got the hang of hyperlinking here yet). But would anyone be up for it?

Conway

OMG! I've just remembered what great levels I used to enjoy on the Megadrive Lemmings! Posting the images from the site shouldn't be too hard, as long as we can find the url in the HTML, 'cos you can't right-click on them since they display as a hover command.

After a little experimentation, I've realized you can get the url of the full-size image by removing the 'sm' from the file name. The only small problem is that it's been so long since I played this version that reviewing the levels from memory will prove difficult!

Fun 14 - Room with no exit. (I believe this is the first level that isn't in the PC version.)

Good: Cool level that lets you experiment with the use of bashers.

Bad: While the lemmings are gathering in the small rooms, it can be difficult to get one to bash in the right direction (although you have more bashers than you will ever need even if you make many mistakes!)

Conway: remember, some of us haven't played these levels at all and would REALLY like this chance to find out about them..... so please include a brief summary of skills and level stats!

Conway

It's all available on the site linked to by Special Gunpowder.

Proxima

I know, but it wouldn't hurt for you to reprint it here, like Adam was doing with the unique SMS levels, and it would make it much easier for me!

EDIT: anyhow, here are the stats for that level.

Save 100 of 100 -- RR 80 -- 5 minutes
50 bashers

Fun 15 - Tea Time In The Ball Country

Skills - 10 of everything
Save 14 out of 20 (70%)
Release Rate 10
Time - 4 minutes

Good - Level design, the ball chains in particular are great.
Bad - Solution a bit too easy

Better than original Level 15 (Don't Let Your Eyes Deceive You)? - Shorter, but less challenging.

DragonsLover

That's so cool! B) I want to play them!

But, why these ratings and levels were not on the other versions? Something cool we could do for Cheapo is to take all levels from all lemmings versions and have the possibility to play them all, but I think it would be too long to do.

Here's my guess. The maximum level length on some of the other versions is less than that on DOS, Amiga, etc., so the very long levels for those systems couldn't be used. Fun 14 and Fun 15 are both long levels, and their replacements are both shorter levels. Since the Amiga and DOS were the first versions, the other levels were created/used later.

Special_Gunpowder

I think that's pretty much spot on. And also as the Mega Drive/Genesis levels were created after Lemmings and Oh No!, many of them are harder and tighter built than the originals, probably because the designers were more experienced at building levels by this point.

Some of these levels are also recycled Oh No! levels built in the original Lemmings styles, particularly in Taxing...but we'll get to that later on!

Lets see if I can get this right...

Level 16: Take a little rest

Skills: 10 of each
Save: 40/50 (80%)
Release rate: 20
Time: 5 mins

Good: It can be done in a variety of ways
Bad: It can hardly replace the "proper" 16 Fun
