I had more than a few levels that did not make the cut for ArtLems that were still pretty fun, so I decided to compile them into this small 12 level pack. It should give you a small glimpse of what ArtLems might be like, so I hope you all enjoy! Comments and constructive criticism are always appreciated, just know that these levels were cut for a variety of reasons, whether it because of their difficulty (or lack thereof), their architecture, or just their nature as levels.

The music for the levels can be downloaded here:

Hello Colorful Arty,

I have attached my replays for this small 12 level pack of rejected levels. I'm well aware that you ended up releasing the actual pack with less levels than intended in each of the ranks, and so these replays won't really be of interest to anyone, but I'm just posting my replays for completeness, since I have plans to eventually post all my replays in the right level pack topic, including demos and very small packs like this. Hence, my feedback is not going to be too long, particularly since there's probably no plans to update these levels due to being rejected from the main pack.

I actually started playing this at the beginning of this month. I gave up on this when I couldn't solve Not good enough 3 - The Tower of Babylon. I ended up skipping it and I was able to solve the next three levels, and then I got stumped on Not good enough 7 - A lounge of lizards. That's when I gave up on the pack, and I didn't come back to it until last night. I surprisingly was able to get through both levels 3 and 7 easily this time. For the former, I simply was thinking about the solution the wrong way and in an overcomplicated manner, as I kept running into the problem of thinking I was a skill short. It is actually quite easy. For the latter, the challenge is just getting past the lizard trap, as it apparently triggers extremely fast, so fast that even at a 99 RR each one gets devoured until about the 4th lemming or so, which will be able to get past. Once you are successful in getting one past it, the rest is very easy. It probably makes a huge difference when they're climbers, as I think they're slower than walkers. I also consider level 7 the hardest one in the entire pack, though it's quite difficult due to the execution, not the puzzle aspect.

All the other levels were pretty easy, although I say level 8 was extremely annoying to set up, as I had to rewind so many times in order to finally get all the builders in the right positions in order for the miner to use all 3 sets to release the crowd from up at the exit area. Easy solution, just very annoying to execute. The following level, Not good enough 9, is very easy, just very tedious and repetitive. Not good enough 10 - Crazy Egypt was a really nice level, but is somewhat annoying to pull off, considering all the timing aspects of the level. It does rely on the solid ceiling, so perhaps that's one of the reasons why this level was rejected? It can also be difficult considering that the skills can surprisingly run out really fast, particularly the stoners and builders and cloners and, to some extent, the digging skills, but only if you take the wrong route, like I initially did through the pillars at the bottom, when I later realized you can just bomb and bash right where the water is. Finally, the pack closes off with a level with the trick of two digging skills crossing, in this case a bahser and a digger.

Besides most of the levels looking quite nice, the music choices were also pretty phenomenal. The only standard one was the music from the Highland tribe of Lemmings 2 for the penultimate level. I really liked the ominous sounding music for the shadow tileset in Not good enough 9.

In any case, I'll eventually get to playing the actual pack. Overall, nice job with this very small 12 level pack of rejected levels.

The download is an NXP file and I don't have a lot of experience with those. Do I have to downgrade to an earlier version of NeoLemmix for this?

kaywhyn

Yes, you will need to download the v10.13 NL player in order to play this pack. Once you extract the NL .exe file somewhere on your computer, double-click it, then browse to where you have this pack extracted, double click it, and now you should be able to play it.

wow, another person interested in this, before Kaywhyn solved these, it was almost 3 years, and nobody posted anything other than Arty in december 2017(about the artlems lost art pieces)

RE: Chrisleec728

Also you might try his Artlems pack. Also this one is for the new formats(best to use 12.82 though since 2 levels have glider issues in the most update player, Although those 2 are still possible,
but 1 through a backroute)

If you read my post on the ArtLems thread you'll see that I already have played through at least some of the levels (mainly because of my own interest in and knowledge of classical music), but I've only made it through the Ancient rank and the first few of Medieval.

Hey chris, were you able to get the Old Formats version of Lost Art Pieces working?

I haven't tried yet, and I don't know if I will as it sounds like a bit of a hassle. I may change my mind though.

Ok so I've taken further steps to try to get this pack to work and there are a couple of problems. First off it doesn't seem to recognize certain tilesets or something, and fiddling with the internet options doesn't seem to help. Second of all I can't download the music because Dropbox won't let me.

Here is the pack, including the 10.13.18 player(Plays only in old formats), styles folder, and music folder in MY DROPBOX.

just extract the rar file

Update: I got the music to download successfully this time for some reason, and I think only two of the levels didn't work, 1 and 5. It didn't recognize the Castle and Slime graphic sets it seems. I otherwise got a pretty good look at the rest of the pack this time though.

kaywhyn

I believe the reason for those two levels not loading up correctly is due to you not having these two artlems styles, which I have attached that you can download. I don't know if having them in your NL 10.13.18 directory is enough or if they both need to be in the styles folder, so I just end up putting them in both locations. Indeed, I opened both level 1 and 5 in the editor, and it appears it's due to tileset mixing. In level 1, which is a Castle style level, there is some artlems-lemmini pieces in there as well. Although, I don't see any tileset mixing in level 5 in the editor, yet when I load it to open it gives me a warning of artlems-neolemmi can't be found (that's before when the style wasn't in my NL directory, but once it was I don't get the warning message anymore when loading up any level in the editor), but it still allows me to see the level in the editor once I dismiss the prompts. When I open the level list window, it seems that all pieces are from grnk4_Slime, so it's interesting that the level's not loading up for you.

In any case, download these two styles, and those two levels should load without problems.

Nope, still nothing. It's saying that the graphic sets "castle.dat" and "gronk4_slime.dat" could not be found, as you may have guessed. It's weird because I appear to have the equivalents of both in the newer version of NeoLemmix that I have, and the Castle levels in the official pack work just fine.
