Hi :lix-smile:

I have created some Lix levels in the past but never really got around to publishing something... until now. I still plan to add some more levels, so this is going to be an "In Development" type of thread for now.

Previews:

Lix Ark
Don't let the architecture distract you.

Never Getting Back Together
A love story...

Ten Survivors
Ten lix, ten skills, one puzzle!

All levels are solvable. I have included all solutions below. Do what you wish with them :lix-tongue:

Enjoy!

Changelog

V0.1
- Initial release (ten levels).

V0.1.1
- Removed extra skills in Lix Ark that are not necessary for all solutions I've seen.
- Added Runners in Nosebleed to avoid unnecessary precision in one of the intended solutions.
- Removed the unintended gaps in Walking The Blue Mile.
- Removed backroute in Waste Of A Skill.
- Changed Roadblocks to Breaking The Fourth Wall and removed backroute.
- Removed backroute in Sanctum.

Forestidia86

Solved all your levels and attached the replays (v.0.9.2).

Some remarks
Were some nice and special mechanics in there; the pack seemed generally more trick oriented. Sometimes I mistook destroyable terrain for steel due to the color. The solutions seemed often precise but I don't know if I was backrouting.

I have the impression that "Lix Ark" is not fully intended.
"Never Getting Back Together" had a really interesting mechanic if it was intended.
"Nosebleed" felt a bit finicky; especially separating that one blocker.
I'm not sure if "Sanctum" is fully intended since I just wasted one lix.

Thanks for playing Forestidia86!

Which levels did you find the most challenging? I'm very bad at judging the difficulty of my own levels so any feedback you want to give on this would be great help! Also, which ones were your favorites and/or least favorites (I'm just curious ).

Also which levels did you mistake terrain for steel? I find this important because I don't want people failing a level because of that.

And for your solutions:

Ancient Temple Of Lix - Intended.

Lix Ark - Not intended, but I really like this solution so it's perfectly acceptable.

Never Getting Back Together - Intended.

Nosebleed - One of the intended solutions, but the more precise one. I guess I never really tried testing out all situations where placing a blocker on the crowd would be so annoying. I've made note of this.

Path To The Underground - Intended.

Roadblocks - This one is a backroute, but it was still a clever solution.

Sanctum - Although you used all skills and wasted one lix exactly this is still a backroute, but it's an easy fix by tweaking one skill.

Ten Survivors - Intended.

Walking The Blue Mile - Intended (you just didn't use a reverse miner trick at the end which is okay with me).

Waste Of A Skill - Intended.

Thanks for the feedback.

- Concerning mistaking terrain for steel:

"Never Getting Back Together" - the construction pillars on the edge; just thought I could backroute and turn there, so nothing which destroys finding the right solution

"Ten Survivors" - mistook the small concrete parts on the bricks on the lower line for steel; that is important for the solution

- Concerning difficulty:

The level I solved last was "Ancient Temple of Lix" although it doesn't even use a particular trick I think.
"Sanctum" looked like a hard level. Maybe I backrouted it therefore. Maybe this applies to "Roadblocks" as well; I don't know.

"Path To The Underground" seemed a bit easier though a bit finicky.

"Waste Of A Skill" seemed a to implement a bit trickier mechanic.

But I think in the end all levels seemed more or less at a similiar degree of difficulty for me. (Maybe similiar to the degree of the lemforum Cunning rank; but it's really hard for me to assess; the levels seemed just generally trick based.)

- Concerning preferences:

I often have no feeling about that apart there is something outstanding.

As I indicated I liked the mechanic of "Never Getting Back Together". Similiarly "Waste Of A Skill".

I think my least favorite was "Nosebleed" due to the finickyness of my solution and it seemed to use one trick I've seen this way before.

But nevertheless there was no level I really disliked; all levels seemed quite similiar in their enjoyability as well.

I generally liked this pack; one had some interesting things to do.

Edit: I just realized that
Spoiler
it is not geoo/construction/pillar but matt/bricks/18 what confused me
.

Flopsy

Interesting that you've converted some of your Lemmings Migration levels into Lix format Nessy.

Out of curiosity, I'm curious of the main problems you had with converting your levels.
Are there any key differences between NeoLemmix and Lix that made some of your solutions harder to enforce?

I'm interested to know in case I decide to convert some of my best of SEB Lems levels over to Lix in the future :)

I'll be more than happy to help Flopsy. I'll write you a PM after work detailing my experience :)

Lovely release! Great visuals that blend decoration with important areas.

I solved 9/10 levels, only Roadblocks is unsolved. Solutions attached.

Comments

Lix Ark: Should be very close to the intended route. Blocking the crowd seems necessary, every other containment method has come short in skills. This took me a while.

Never Getting: Should be intended. I got this quickly.

Ancient Temple: Should be intended. Very nice.

Path Underground: Should be intended. Surprisingly well-hidden solution, the level looks impossible and the skills far too few. Solved by logical exclusion of everything else.

Nosebleed: Should be intended. Amazing use of splat height.

Walking Blue: Feels backroutish because, in the second half of the map, I had many skills available to brute-force the way into the exit.

Waste Skill: Backroute? Digger, then 3 platformers to lix #0, platform with lix #1 to close gap. Lix #2 is too fast, therefore turn lix #2 by assigning miner to immediately choke on steel, giving #1 time to plug the hole. Dig when #0 is finished.

Ten Survivors: Feels intended, beautiful map.

Sanctum: Backroute? The final basher relies on ~1 second of nobody coming close, then the basher tunnel is deep enough to make everybody turn.

QuoteI'll write you a PM after work detailing my experience :)

Please consider a public post (with spoilers if it's level-dependent), I'd love to get feedback on game and editor.

Ancient Temple Of Lix - Intended.

Lix Ark - Intended.

Never Getting Back Together - Intended.

Nosebleed - The way you released the crowd at the end wasn't intended but perfectly acceptable!

Path To The Underground - Intended, and yeah everyone has the same first reaction to this level.

Sanctum - Not intended, but on the right track to the intended solution. I already know how to fix this.

Ten Survivors - Intended.

Walking The Blue Mile - Believe it or not your solution was intended. You had to use a reverse miner at the end but the way you did it was perfectly fine with me.

Waste Of A Skill - Yeah this one is a backroute as you predicted, but clever solution that's worthy of its own level!

Sure, I'll start a separate thread for it so others can jump in (although I didn't really have any major problems with the game and editor so far).

I played through and solved all the levels. Didn't get stuck on any of them, but they are certainly not trivial. I enjoyed it a lot, even though I think I backrouted a few of them. The visuals are nice too. I think my favourites are the last 4 levels and Path to the Underground. Solutions attached.

Spoiler

Lix Ark: First thing I tried worked out. Love the visuals here.

Never Getting: I like this kind of level (just very few lix), even if I ended up solving this one rather quickly.

Ancient Temple: This was pretty much the first thing I tried, only minor change was that I saved the builder previously used for holding the crowd so I could turn the climber in the end.

Path Underground: Interesting trick here, placing the digger so the builder can get further up. I guess due to lack of alternatives it doesn't actually take that long to find this trick.

Nosebleed: I liked this one a lot, probably intended? Though I can see this solution getting annoying if the lix are clustered in such a way that you can't block with exactly one lix bypassing the blocker.

Walking Blue: The diagonal slope on the left has tiny gaps in it, this is very nasty. I had a working solution until I released the crowd and only then noticed the gaps.

Waste Skill: Probably intended? I like the minimalistic skillset and somehow also the visual aesthetics with everything being so green.

Roadblocks: I think I backrouted this, but I'm looking forward to a backroute fix as this one seems very interesting and I can't really think of anything else than the backroute I found so far.

Ten Survivors: Very nice one, probably intended? This was a lot of fun.

Sanctum: I used all the skills, and the solution is quite clean, though I'm wondering whether it's intended because I tried a lot of more complicated things before finding this one.

Thanks for playing geoo!

Ancient Temple Of Lix - Intended.

Lix Ark - Intended.

Never Getting Back Together - Intended.

Nosebleed - Intended, but yes perhaps allowing a couple of Runners in the skill set will make separating a lix from the crowd at the end less precise.

Path To The Underground - Intended. This level is much easier than its previous version, but I would rather have it easier if it means better quality.

Roadblocks - Yeah, same backroute as Forestidia86, but an easy fix.

Sanctum - Same backroute as Forestidia86, but I'm loving everyone's solution to this level so I might end up changing the intended solution to a mix of everyone's replays :lix-smile:

Ten Survivors - Intended.

Walking The Blue Mile - Intended, but my deepest apologizes for those tiny gaps. They are not intended. I didn't notice them so thanks for finding them even at the cost of personal annoyance :lix-cry:

Waste Of A Skill - Intended.

Nessy

#11
I have a solution to "Breaking the Fourth Wall".
I don't know if it's intended but
Spoiler
for me it was about puzzling the pieces together.

Nessy

Hi Forestidia86! Your solution to Breaking the Fourth Wall is 100% intended.

Also, thanks for the PM. I understand what you meant now :lix-smile:

Forestidia86

Solved the new "Sanctum" as well.
Spoiler
This one was really tricky in an out of the box way if intended.

Nessy

Forestidia86, your solution to "Sanctum" is also intended. Well done :lix-grin:
