Here is where (when finished) I will upload all of the original 8 tilesets with custom made backgrounds. Right now all I have is crystal marble and pillar. Back-up your styles before you replace these. Go into NeoLemmix/styles and replace the crystal.. etc with these respective files.

I made these by making a level (320x~600+) taking a screenshot then shrinking it, darkening and blurring the image. I made these a long time ago and haven't gotten around to making the rest yet. If anyone wants to contribute you certainty may.

[note: these are the old formats]

They actually look pretty good! They kinda remind me a lot of the L2 snes version's backgrounds. :D

I saw these backgrounds on your stream. Very nice. Thanks for sharing!

I also don't mind contributing. I can help with the Original styles, or the Oh No styles.

anything you want to do, or comment go ahead. I always planned to finish this but haven't gotten around to it. I intended to make backgrounds for all 8 or 9 of the original sets.

Thanks Mobius, these look great.

I won't implement these in my upcoming level pack, I'll leave it down to the user to download this style themself.

Can I still switch back to black on any of these tilesets, as an alternative background image, like many graphic sets, e.g. by GigaLem, have them? Or is the change to the new backdrops exclusive and permanent?

I'm still kind of on the fence whether I want to use them or not. Having the backgrounds certainly makes levels appear more 3D-like, a bit reminiscent of the way the original Lemmings levels were redesigned by Team 17 for the PlayStation. With just plain black however, it looks more traditional, which I like especially for the more traditionally-spirited Paralems.

As far as I could tell from nin10doadict's videos, a pack automatically fetches the style installed on the user's PC, it is not limited to what the creator chose (I found out about this because he has the backgrounds enabled when playing my pack without me having to implement them, I compiled the .nxp with the original graphic sets). Hence, I conclude the change to the new backgrounds is automatic, not optional on a per-level basis within the editor? ;)
My packs so far:
Lemmings World Tour (New & Old Formats), my music-themed flagship pack, 320 levels - Let's Played by Colorful Arty
Lemmings Open Air, my newest release and follow-up to World Tour, 120 levels
Paralems (Old Formats), a more flavour-driven one, 150 levels
Pit Lems (Old Formats), a more puzzly one, 100 levels - Let's Played by nin10doadict
Lemmicks, a pack for (very old) NeoLemmix 1.43 full of gimmicks, 170 levels

that's not a problem at all! because Nepster and Simon hate backgrounds like the Colonel loves chicken :P ;  there should be an option to completely disable all backgrounds from appearing. I'm guessing this is in the menu options on NL player. I'm not sure because I've never looked at this myself.

And; as I recommend in the first post; copy these styles into your folder; don't overwrite them (keep your originals elsewhere or whatever) in case you end up not liking them or wanting the original dark backgrounds.

While this is still a good idea when downloading ANYTHING; it's no longer necessary as in the new format you can merely select any background or no background in the editor :)

Yeah, I backuped them as you suggested in your original post. Good to know about that feature in the NL-Settings, though, I'll look that up! ;)

Here's Dirt! Beware - this background is not for vertical levels.

I also made this as a dedication to a certain forum member who made a wonderful Lemmings pack, has helped maintain the NeoLemmix website, and is now a forum Administrator. :)
