You know with Tileset mixing being a thing, why not a tileset than can be mixed with any set made off
-Many steel pieces with a lot of different colors (to fit a tileset)
-Flat pieces that can be used with an almost all rough pieced set
-Objects that contain at least one of each object

These would fit tilesets with anything missing (Case in point Circus from lemmings 2)

I'd be up for the idea of having a tileset that has a lot of different shapes and sizes to be used as erasing terrain.

This is already planned for the new file-type version of NeoLemmix. There we will have a "default" style containing at least a hatch, water, one-way arrows, pickup skills and updrafts. Whether to include other objects and if so, what sprites to use is not yet decided (as far as I know). Ideas and opinions are welcome.

I am not sure whether this is the best solution? Isn't it better to contact the style designer directly, ask about the missing steel pieces and possibly volunteer to create some pieces specifically for this one style? I don't know (m)any styles that completely miss steel pieces, so I wonder whether you are trying to solve a non-existing problem here.

Here I am curious how such pieces could possibly look like? How would you design flat terrain pieces that fit within the ONML Snow style, the L1 Dirt style and the LPII Purple style?

Stuff like Bricks of dirt, Igloo Bricks, and Soft rectangular purple pieces
Don't forget, the sky set is rough too

Why not just add some flat pieces to the tilesets themselves? Alternatively just use square steel pieces to erase the rough terrain.

Wafflem

The System Test graphic set has different sizes of white squares and rectangles (as well as grey steel squares and rectangles). These can also work as erasing terrain.
