SuperLemmini lag

For those of you who watched my Lemmings Let's Play or are watching my SubLems Let's Play, you can attest I am having some serious problems with SuperLemmini lagging. When I play casually (not recording), it runs perfectly, but when I run it with Open Broadcaster and Audacity in the background, it begins to run at half the speed it normally does (no joke). Does anyone have any suggestions to eliminate or at least minimize the game lag?

Why do you need to run Open Broadcaster *and* Audacity at the same time? OBS is capable of recording the sound from SuperLemmini and your voice at the same time; you just may have to tweak the settings a bit (getting it to simply record both is easy; tweaking the volume settings can be annoying). The other advantages here is that it can record directly to FLV (which I've found is the optimal format for uploading to Youtube), and you don't have to worry about synchronising the two accurately.

Running more things at once is always going to lead to slowdown; and SuperLemmini is likely already very CPU-intensive due to being a Java app. Therefore, getting Audacity out of the picture should improve it at least a bit. However, if you can't do this, try to run as little else as possible in the background - except for absolutely essential things, close all other programs, especially ones that tend to be quite resource-intensive.

If you've got rid of everything else, but can't get rid of Audacity, try anyway (just as a test run) to record without Audacity running. If it improves things, one very hacky workaround you could consider if you have the equipment for it is to record your voice on a different device (another computer, or perhaps a smartphone) rather than the same one you're recording video on.

Thanks for the reply! :)

The problem is, I need to keep the in-game audio separate from my commentary, because I edit my commentary in Audacity (filtering out noise and such). If the in-game audio is in the same file, then that changes as well, and I want to leave it unaltered. That is why I run Audacity as well.

I guess I'll just suck it up and deal with it.

This guide here suggests it should be possible to record to seperate channels in OBS: https://obsproject.com/forum/resources/obs-studio-high-quality-recording-and-multiple-audio-tracks.221/

From there, it's just a matter of finding a program that can extract a single channel to an audio file, then you could open that and edit it in Audacity. It goes without saying that you should probably do a small test run just messing around before trying this for any actual videos.
