Hi, it's me again!

Do you have specific favourites from the soundtrack of the original Lemmings? I mean, I like the whole soundtrack (although How Much is that Doggie in the Window is one I like quite a bit less than the others, honestly), but there are some I'd have rather than others. I'm not counting the special graphics stages, here.

My two favourites are probably Twang and Pachelbel's Canon. Choosing a third one would be very hard, though... it could be any of these, I think:
Keep Your Hair On, Mr. Lemming, Rainbow Islands, Smile If You Love Lemmings.

Not sure if this changes anything for anyone, but in the Amiga version which was released around the same time, due to superior sound capabilities, its version of Doggie music actually has barking dogs sound (which is replaced in the DOS version largely by a sort of bass-drum sound as a substitute, similarly to how other sound effects like "Let's Go" and "Oh no" were modified).

I mean, it doesn't really change my opinion ("meh") of the music, but at least it works better on the Amiga version as a result, IMHO.

Yeah, I know. It's still a bit too weird for me, though, not either soothing or pumping up like the other themes, just annoying :P

Sega Master System version, Level 13 / 30 music. :) It's not found in any other version.

Though the c64 port wasn't the best, it has my favourite music. This one in particular:

(How much is that doggy song was always my favourite from the normal soundtrack hehe)

The 48k zx spectrum music always makes me laugh as well due to how horrible and strangled it sounds

There were 45 unread posts on Lemmingsforums while I was sleeping. Came into this topic early on, and have listened to "this one in particular" for a few hours now, writing replies to everything else.

Here's a youtube playlist containing versions of "Doggie" from every port (or so it says; I suspect some ports may be missing but plenty are there).

Actually having a re-listen just now, the Amiga version actually sounds more obnoxious in a way with its sound effects.  I think versions like C64 and Sega Genesis that forgo the cheesy sound effects ultimately work out better, especially if you are forced to listen to the music in a loop.

^is this the one you mean by 'Rainbow Island'? I like the DOS version because a few notes are different; either that or it's just easier for me to hear these notes compared to the other versions.

I also love "this one in particular" ever since I heard it on youtube. So they made their own music for that version? It's good!

^ I posted the wrong link there--I mean to post the one Simon did. Anyway; does this above song remind anyone of any pop song? It sounds familiar to me

All my favourites are in the Acorn Archimedes version, all because they remind me of my days in primary school. Someone was always on the computer playing lemmings in the classroom and this soundtrack was playing eventhough i had to do my school work. The teacher never asked the sound to be turned down even though it was quite loud!

These ones are my particular favourites

Also the Amiga version of Awesome level theme I like a lot.

I would probably agree with Apjjm about the oh no more lemmings track four song which is quite good. :) (That would be my favourite track four)

The four special levels from the original game had really good music but I'm probably going to say I liked the atari st version of those level tracks.

Also I really liked the music from the lemmings tribes atari st version.

It's interesting how many ports opted to port the Amiga version of Doggie with the extended sound-effects parts, when they could've ported the Atari ST version instead, which cut down most of the parts that were pure sound effects with no tunes (and thus the hardest parts to port effectively especially on more primitive sound hardware).  [As I recall, PC DOS, Amiga and Atari ST were all done by DMA around the same time.]

Checking out the Doggie playlist, I think they did this one quite well http://youtu.be/0EBQCx6BXsA (what is Sam Coupe even, though?)
I am really rather disappointed with how the SNES version turned out: they should've changed the theme to take advantage of the SNES' own sound qualities (because the SNES is definitely capable of great sound) instead of trying to get as close as possible to Amiga's version, which simply can't be achieved.

All the DOS musics. But this is because I grew up with the DOS version and not the Amiga version.

Also, I've never played the Acorn version of Lemmings, but the musics are actually very good (with the huge exception of the 13th track Rainbow Island, that one was very butchered in my opinion). I also like the additional music track that comes from Mad Professor Mariarti; it's short but cute. Surprisingly, in my opinion again, they actually go very well with the Lemmings Plus styles, even the LPIV ones and the Horror tileset.

Yes, I even like the Awesome Acorn music. This one may be the most hated of all Awesome musics, and indeed it doesn't fit the level, but if you use it in another level with an eerie setting, the music may work there.
