Inverse-Scoring Questions

Just for reference, anyone who gave an invalid answer was informed of such and given an opportunity to submit a different answer. All such entrants had replied (though in some cases without giving a new answer), so I take this as confirmation that they're aware their answer wasn't accepted. And for the record, no points have been deducted for initially giving an invalid answer then later changing to a valid one - only the final answer has been taken into account.

I will be listing these from highest scoring downwards, not most popular downwards. I will also list all the answers that I would've accepted as valid.

Thanks for playing everyone, and looking forward to seeing what the next host comes up with! If you'd like to host the next one, contact Simon or namida for the QuizMaster password (or in the event you're unable to contact them, ask any admin for assistance in resetting it).

Quote5. Name a product which generally cannot be purchased by people under a certain age.

Every entrant answered "Alcohol" to this one and thus got 1 point each.

Some mentioned that Clam being from New Zealand inspired them to answer this. I completely overlooked that people might be biased by the fact that Clam (and myself, for that matter!) are from NZ, and thought Australia would be a more obvious answer. Damn... :P

I had no idea Neptune was that liked. Or disliked. Whatever.

Aw, why such short notice? I was planning to do it tonight :(
I hope you'll do another one of these inverse question scoring things, as I'd like to participate in it as well.

namida

It'll be up to whoever hosts the next round. :)

Nice one, thanks.

Picking unique things is super hard. You have to guess what level of obscurity is appropriate each time anew.

The round of least popular is quite tricky and probably also relies on quite a bit of luck (like the usual non-feud questions). You have a limited pool of answers, and estimates how popular each of the answers would normally be (standard-feud scoring), and then you have to estimate how many people use reverse or reverse-reverse psychology.
I don't like this kind of question as much as the regular one, even though apparently I scored best on those.

I initially went with Adventure time on Q8, but then I suspected most people would probably just go for cartoon shows being unaware of "Cartoon Network" specifically, so I just went for a classic show. Guess picking a classic was a bad idea, as all the other answers are quite recent shows.

QuoteI have counted "Apple" and "iPhone" as equivalent for this question, as the entrants are quite obviously referring to the same thing. However, I have NOT counted "Android" and "Samsung" as equivalent, as Samsung is not even nearly the only manufacturer of Android phones. Apple / iPhone - 6 people (1 point)
grams88, IchoTolot, Minim, NaOH, Nepster, Simon
And so Apple's tyrannic policy of making everything as closed and inaccessible as possible wins again here. If Google were as bad then Samsung and Android would count for the same. The good ones always finish last. :P

Simon's round
Shame on people for not joining this great round. :lix-ashamed: This probably just indicates interest in Feud starting to wane a bit in our community (?).
#1 – Lemmings theme managed to skew the results seemingly, I guess that if there had been more people giving their answers, blue would've been an obvious top answer. ;)
#4 – This is also a question that I would have used in my next round!
#7 – You did correct not merging blue whale and whale, I would never have merged those answers. I pondered quite a while which one I'd answer, but ended up thinking that maybe there were people who would have answered the biggest animal species there exist.

namida's round
Another good round! I submitted my answers in the last minute and therefore didn't think for them almost at all. However, now afterwards thinking I probably wouldn't have answered the top answers I missed if I had thought for longer, tofu and Apple didn't cross my mind.
#8 – Yet another question that I was thinking to use in my round! I don't feel like hosting anymore. ;P I'm a bit surprised about the outcome, I thought that there were really two considerable contenders in this one, The Powerpuff Girls and Adventure Time. Adventure Time is of course a successful modern show, but in the end I was confident to answer The Powerpuff Girls because it's still more classic and it aired when most forumers were children.
#13 – I didn't even think for others than Adam, and apparently all newer users answered this. I was thinking if it made sense to list the valid answers for each question for players (because of this certain question), I don't know.

Well then, since there seems to be no interest from anyone else in holding the next round, I shall do another one! And I expect not to have any interruptions requiring a quick close this time, so I'll be sure to give some notice before the entries end. :)

Please note that I don't want to end up hosting every round - so I will definitely want to pass this on to someone else for the next round. :)

Anyway, I'm going to go with the same idea again - 10 normal questions and 5 inverse scoring ones.

Standard Scoring Questions
1. Name a utensil used for eating.
2. Name a type of video input connector you might find on a TV.
3. Name a Linux distribution.
4. Name a natural hair color.
5. Name an input device on a PC.
6. Name a web browser.
7. Name an animal that has a shell.
8. Name a vehicle that can travel on water.
9. Name a potentially deadly weapon.
10. Name one of the first 7 levels in original Lemmings.

Inverse Scoring Questions

As in the last round, an answer that is factually incorrect or outright disregards the question will get zero points. However, you will be notified of such answers (and as such have an opportunity to change them) before entries close. You will not lose points for initially submitting an invalid answer, as long as your final answer is valid.

11. Name a country in the former Soviet Union.
12. Name a final level of a single-player rank in any official, non-demo version of original Lemmings. *
13. Name one of the five main family members on The Simpsons.
14. Name a book in the Harry Potter series.
15. Name a current global moderator (not an administrator) on this website.

* For the avoidance of doubt, versions that include both Orig and OhNo are acceptable, but only the Orig levels.

Good luck, everyone!

Invalid answers: (If a question isn't listed, there haven't been any yet)

Question 11
Poland - Although Poland was under soviet control for some time, it was never fully part of the Soviet Union.

Question 12
Anger, Love, Hate (Lemmings Revolution) - Invalid because Lemmings Revolution is not original Lemmings.

Question 15
geoo - geoo is an administrator.
namida, ccexplore - No one actually gave these answers (at least not yet), but same thing - they're administrators, not moderators.
Prob Lem - Again, no one gave this answer yet (it's just a pre-emptive thing); anyway Prob Lem was a moderator for a short time, but only to assist with the importing of old content and didn't wish to retain that position after that was finished.

Quizmaster

Just wanted to say; this round looks like it's going to be far more successful! 10 entries already; and the inverse questions seem to have been better-chosen this time, as among those 10 entries there's only been 3 invalid answers, one of which almost certianly just comes from hastily answering the question rather than the question being difficult. :)

Proxima

I could do the next round :lix-cool:

namida

Someone else also volunteered to do it, though IIRC they said "if no one else volunteers". I'll talk to both of you about it when this round closes. :)

Oh man my mouse has a mind of its own as it shakes on its own, crazy. My dad spilt cider on our old mouse so we had to use another mouse.

That's good to see that we have a lot of people contributing, I think there will be way more than ten of us contributing. Maybe some rounds will be popular than other rounds, just depends on what kind of mood we are in whether or not to play.  Got to be careful not to give anything away but I tried a certain tactic that may or may not work. :)

Whoever wins this round deserves a clap and a bottle of whisky.

Quizmaster

Okay well, there haven't been any more new entries in a couple of days now. So, I'll wrap this round up in about 48 hours. :) Just giving plenty of warning for anyone who may have wanted to get answers in but hasn't done so yet.

Quizmaster

#134
Oops, completely forgot about this. I guess I should wrap it up soon... I'll give it a few hours in case there's any people who forgot about getting their answers in, then I'll wrap it up.

EDIT: Okay, entries are closed now. I'm totalling up the scores.
