I've been gathering up icons from various Lemmings games for various systems for a while, and putting them to use on my own system (typically gracing my Applications Menu button in Xfce) so I figured I'd post them up for everyone to get their paws on.

I'm missing a few for sure (for example, I imagine there's one for Lemmings for Macintosh, and for the Archimedes version of Lemmings 2, but I don't have the former, and the latter hasn't yet been released by the Archimedes Software Preservation Project), and I haven't been able to grab all of the ones from All New World of Lemmings for the Commodore Amiga yet (it has several great ones, and I want to make sure I don't end up with mangled screenshots of them), but enjoy, nonetheless. http://www.lemmingsforums.com/Smileys/lemmings/thumbsup.gif" alt="" title="Thumbs Up" class="smiley" />

EDIT: And here, in all their glory, are the eight (count 'em!) Workbench icons from All New World of Lemmings for the Commodore Amiga. There are four different items with specific icons, for this game (PROGRAM, RunFD, InstallHD, and RunHD), and they each have a second state that is displayed once the icon is single-clicked. There was no North American release of the Amiga version of the game, so there are no variants carrying the logo for The Lemmings Chronicles, unfortunately.

I must admit, clicking on the RunHD icon and seeing it change to its second state really made me smile quite a lot. http://www.lemmingsforums.com/Smileys/lemmings/laugh.gif" alt=":D" title="Laugh" class="smiley" /> (I also really liked the second version of the InstallHD icon, with the lemming paw making a mark on the hard drive platter.)

Just grabbed from the screen.
Archimedes icons: 'Lemmings 2 Intro', 'Lemmings 2 Demo', 'Lemmings 2 Game' and 'Oh No, More Lemmings'.

Preety disappointing, isnt it?

Mac icons: 'Lemmings', 'Oh No ML' and 'XMas'/'Holliday'.

Nice icons, I think.

Awesome post, Leo - thanks very much. http://www.lemmingsforums.com/Smileys/lemmings/thumbsup.gif" alt="" title="Thumbs Up" class="smiley" />

Wow, the Arc icons for Oh No! More Lemmings and the Lemmings 2 Demo are a bit sad, I must say, haha. I really, really like the book for the Lemmings 2 intro, though. http://www.lemmingsforums.com/Smileys/lemmings/laugh.gif" alt=":D" title="Laugh" class="smiley" /> Still, they're the only ONML and Lemmings 2 icons that I know of at all, which definitely counts for something.

The Mac icons are adorable. They've also got that distinct early 90s look to them that I find ridiculously difficult to describe.

I'll try to locate the icon for the PSX Lemmings & Oh No! More Lemmings port, later or tomorrow. If there are no more that I'm overlooking, I think that one may just complete the collection.

Leo

Here is one more 'Lemmings 2 demo' icon:

http://i61.tinypic.com/29xsydw.png" alt="" class="bbc_img" />

It's from Amiga demo. Here we have two pictures, but it's the same icon. Colours and aspect ratio difference comes as a result of a different settings of the Workbench. So, I can't say which one is correct. The first one is captured from standard WB1.3 settings and the second is from some custom WB3.1

I quite liked the lemmings paintball logos, one time I was in School I noticed that someone installed lemmings paintball onto the computer in the RE class.

I could see the Lemmings paintball icon 2.

Some of the icons I don't quite remember but I remember the microsoft windows one although I have not tried the adventures of Lomax yet. (looks kind of different to lemmings I think)

Brilliant - thanks for these. I didn't know that there was an icon attached to the Amiga demo of Lemmings 2 (I couldn't find one for the final game, so I just assumed there wouldn't be one for the demo).

As far as looks go, I guess both are correct, really, since the different versions of Workbench display them differently. I prefer the 3.1 look, myself. http://www.lemmingsforums.com/Smileys/lemmings/smiley.gif" alt=":)" title="Smiley" class="smiley" />

It's a platformer (that happens to be set in the Lemmings universe), so it is pretty different. It does feature some of the skills from the original game (plus some new ones), though.

And now, guys, prepare yourself for... Well, this...

I'm honestly surprised that something like this was used in a finalised, released, retail product. It looks for all the world like a placeholder.

Leo

Lemmings 2 for the Amiga doesn't have icon becouse there isn't any executable file on the floppy disks. Game starts from the boot block, and there is no official HD install.

On the Amiga, colors and aspect ratio of the icons are not defined if the floppy disk doesn't contain 'system-configuration' file. So, we just can assume what was authors idea.

And one more icon. This time from the CDTV. Again, colors are not specified. All colours in the 'system-configuration' are set on the black, so it's useless.

http://i62.tinypic.com/m9asye.png" alt="" class="bbc_img" />

Prob Lem

Hah, I forgot all about the CDTV version. Given the configuration file issue you mentioned, did you add the colours yourself?

Also, I wonder if the (apparently unreleased) 3DO version of The Lemmings Chronicles would have had any icons to grab? Not that we'll ever know! http://www.lemmingsforums.com/Smileys/lemmings/winktounge.gif" alt=";P" title="Wink-Tongue" class="smiley" />

Leo

Colours are always there. In the icon file it's like: this pixel is in colour number 1, and this is in colour number 2 (or 3, or 4), but what is colour number 1 (or 2, or 3, or 4) is not specified in the icon file. So, if you change any colour in your Workbench settings all icons on the screen change colours.

Here is the same icon in standard Workbench 1.3 and 3.1 colours. Vertical resolution is doubled to get the square pixels.
And there is the second (clicked) icon. I forgot to check is it 'single' or 'double' icon, last time.

Ah, I forgot, how you mean to check the 3DO disk for icons? I have the image of 3DO Lemmings (not Lemmings 3, of course), but when it's mounted, I can't access anything on the disk. And game works when the 3DO emulator starts. So, I suppose Windows can't read files from the 3DO disk.
I also have OS2 Lemmings demo install files, but I don't have OS2 to check the game. I don't see any icon in it (as it is now), but after instalation, maybe it create icons. If someone have access to OS2 system and want to try this demo, I can upload install pack.

I must admit, I have no experience at all with the 3DO. I don't actually know if any icons are present in any games for it at all - I was just thinking out loud... http://www.lemmingsforums.com/Smileys/lemmings/embarrassed.gif" alt=":-[" title="Embarrassed" class="smiley" />

I wonder if OS2 can be set up in VirtualBox? That might be the way to go, for that.

Let's not forget about nice 'busy pointer'.

Archimedes
http://i60.tinypic.com/nvw5sj.png" alt="" class="bbc_img" />

Atari ST has just 'ZZZ' baloon, but no Lemming in the bed.
Is there similar pointer in any other version? I don't remember.

Prob Lem

I never noticed that the Arc busy pointer was different. Blimey...

I'm not sure if it's in any of the other versions...

grams88

In a way maybe the Atari St one is different as well although it still shows that busy pointer thing.

Leo

As I said, it's just 'ZZZ' on the Atari ST. There is no Lemming in the bed.

Here it is:

Edit: One more icon, "Holiday Lemmings 94" (Amiga).

No lemming in the bed at all, It did take me a while to figure out what the Zs were  referencing to as it just looked like squiggly lines but now understanding it more it is three Zs which is quite nice I thought.

One level that does tend to take a while to load in the Atari st two player version was (The pipe room) I always see that pointer staying a couple more seconds than usual.

With holidays lemmings that was a game I finished five or six years ago but back when I first played it I think I remember Christmas music or something similar but have to say nice pointers for the Amiga version.
