I'm just wondering, there's so many versions of Lemmings and each version has their own music style (as they use different chips or synths). Which version has the best music of the classical Lemmings game (by classical, I mean, not like PSP and PS2 versions) in your humble opinion?
I like dragons! They're the center of my life! I'll never forget them...

At least, did you listen to those of the other versions?

I did listen to : Amiga, Atari ST, Dos, Genesis, SNES, NES (a bit), Sega Master System, Windows 95 and PC Engine. I'm kinda surprised with the PC Engine ones and some of the Genesis version are good too. But yeah, Amiga ones are "the" classicals, but they're the oldest as well.

I second the Amiga originals... although some of the SNES and Windows MIDI versions do have their charm!  8)

I've listened to many variations as well.  DOS (started with that one, in fact), Atari ST, Atari Lynx, Game Gear/Master System, Genesis, NES, SNES, Game Boy, C64, the Windows MIDIs, and also a CD version of the DOS version with CD audio tracks.  I have not heard the PC Engine versions, though... anyone got a link?

But anyway, out of what I have heard, I still like the Amiga.

I like the Amiga originals best.

If those are the ones we use on WinUAE, those are my favorites!

My favourites are the Sega Master System version because they're shorter. Makes it easier on me to whistle.

Also, some of the music is different and perhaps more appreciated by this commonwealther's ear. Lol.

I'm with Jason on this one.

I did play the Master System version before any other version, so I am a little biased towards it, but in my opinion, the Sega Master System had the best music. There were limitations, of course, but these limitations gave the tracks a unique feel and didn't take too much away from the music.

The SMS-exclusive tracks (Levels 13, 15 and 17, IIRC) also sounded fantastic! I can't play Rendezvous at the Mountain without the SMS track playing... but that's just me.

I prefer the music from the Acorn version I played on my dad's old A3000 as the music chip on that machine was brilliant :)

If you'd like to hear the one with the worst music, try the Gameboy lemmings. The music from those aren't that good.

The Doctor

I also rather like the PSP music. I never used to, but they've grown on me since I bought my PSP.

I used to think they were just ambient, but some of the Hell tunes are nice. For those who haven't played, the music doesn't follow any particular order: there are about 3 tunes per style (Hell, Crystal, Earth, Egypt, Roman) which are selected at random when you start the level. There are also 3 special tunes based on past tunes (She'll Be Coming 'Round the Mountain, The Can Can, Only Floaters Can Survive This) which may appear in any style.

Seems a bit silly to lose the classics, but they actually are rather nice to play against. You don't get taunted with the continual loop of the music, it's just like a nice whispy wind.

I wonder if a pole could be started about this?...

Okay, I checked.  The Lemmings Forums don't make that possible. :(
