Hey everyone!
I'm pleased to present my new level pack, 'Lemmings Faithful' - another collaboration with my brother, tan x dx!

You'll need to first download its accompanying style pack here:

https://www.lemmingsforums.net/index.php?topic=6713.0

As I explain in that thread, the gimmick behind these new styles is that they are designed to mimic the style of the original/ohno colour palettes as closely as possible.

This level pack is meant to show off the terrain pieces and objects of the 5 new styles that I created.

There are twenty levels in total, divided into two ranks.
The first rank is very easy - suitable for beginners.
The second rank is slightly harder, but still relatively easy.
The levels have multiple solutions and aren't intended to have any specific solution as the 'correct' one.

If you're a more advanced player looking for a challenge, each level also has an accompanying talisman, some of which are very difficult to obtain!

Here are some screenshots:

Spoiler

UPDATE - Two new ranks!
To showcase the release of my latest style pack "Let's Go - More Faithful", my brother and I have done two more ranks for this pack.
The new ranks, ('Safe' and 'Treacherous') follow the exact same formula as the first two ranks. (I.e., an easy rank and a slightly harder rank, with each level having a challenging talisman).

You'll need to download the new styles if you haven't done so already:

Here are some more screenshots of the new ranks:

Let me know what you think!

UPDATE - updated the 'Brass' levels in safe/treacherous rank to use the updated terrain and remove deprecated pieces. Please make sure you have the relevant update for brass style downloaded before downloading this update!

Let me know what you think!

These levels are gorgeous and fun! Your tilesets are totally amazing, so much that I started making and experimenting with them in SuperLemmix. I sense a new pack by me eventually! You're welcome to assist with it. ;)

Thank you for the permission to use the tilesets. You've done an excellent job with them!

Hi Dexter and tan x,

I have played and solved all of the levels. Here are my replays and of course some nice feedback. There are a few levels with two replays, but that is because some I didn't get the talisman due to forgetting a requirement, mostly the save all that I happened to overlook a few times :XD:

Enjoy! :P

General Feedback

Lemmings Faithful is the newest level pack by both Dexter and ∫tan x. It is a pack featuring and showcasing 5 brand new tilesets for NL made by Dexter. These tilesets are Autumn, Mosaic, Circuit, Palace, and Rust. For some screenshots of the tilesets, see the spoiler tag in the OP, as well as the styles pack linked. Because Dexter was attempting to imitate the original feel of the L1 and ONML tilesets, he intentionally imposed some restrictions/limitations when making them, such as 6 up to a maximum of 8 colors. For more information on how these tilesets were in these official games, see namida's post in the topic linked in the Lemmings Faithful styles topic.

As several others have stated, the tilesets look amazing. Dexter did a great job with them, and you get to have fun navigating levels in these tilesets with this pack. The levels are all open-ended and therefore shouldn't be too difficult. If you're looking for a greater challenge, you can try going for the talismans, which every level of the pack has. There's only one talisman per level in this pack. Indeed, some of these were difficult to figure out, but they still weren't too hard IMO. In particular, I thought the time attack ones were quite simple, while I find the skill limit ones more challenging. Tricky 9 is probably the hardest of this type to achieve, but is in general not too hard of a level if you don't care for the talisman despite being the penultimate level of the pack. Even the final level isn't very hard but its talisman is a very worthy challenge to finish the pack on. I checked my solution against the talisman solution after I solved the levels and obtained them myself first, and they're all different compared to mine. That's the beauty of the game of Lemmings

Even though this pack is easier than their usual affair, I still enjoyed this pack very much. A lot of the talismans were especially fun to figure out. In this way, some of them kind of remind me of the ones from Lemmings Plus VI. They do increase the challenge, some more drastically than others. I really had to think hard on how to obtain some of them. Some of the ones that require saving all combined with some other restrictions (usually, skill limits) were the hardest talismans of the pack. With this, IMO the hardest one to get was Tricky 3, followed by Tricky 9, Tricky 4, and Simple 9.

The best talismans to figure out IMO are Simple 3, Simple 5, Simple 8, Simple 9, Tricky 1, Tricky 4, and Tricky 10. Simple 2 to an extent, but you can either really overcomplicate it like I did, or do it in a much easier way like Dexter

Simple Rank Feedback

These levels are in general easy for the most part. The ones at the end of the rank aren't that hard either, even when the talisman is considered.

Spoiler

Simple 1 - Fields of Gold Nice level to get players into the pack, especially with a really nice tileset that's reminiscent of the fall weather.

Simple 2 - Lazuli Not sure what the title is referring to here. Another nice level, though I massively overcomplicated the solution when going for the talisman. I checked against Dexter's solution and it's a lot easier to just dig down the pillars. Can't believe I missed that! :forehead: Well, I do have the tendency to overlook the simple stuff but figure out the hard parts of the solution fast

Simple 3 - House of Fun A very fun one to figure out, especially the talisman, as I love builderless levels myself. This was one that I apparently missed because while I did do the talisman in regards to no builders or bashers, I overlooked the save all requirement :forehead: So, I quickly fixed that after I finished recording the final video of the LP. Who knew you could do the entire level with just lasers as the only way to destroy terrain for the talisman. Nice!

Simple 4 - Alabashter Nice wordplay on Alabaster  Even with the talisman this one is quite easy, as long as you know your time saving techniques.

Simple 5 - Methane Meadows Another great level that was really fun to figure out the talisman. I especially love the added challenge of the splat pad and that it's just a simple matter of building to catch the entrance that's over it. Well done, Dexter!

Simple 6 - Stepping Stones Very easy, even with the talisman :P

Simple 7 - Ruins of Atlantis Also very easy, even with the talisman :P Even moreso when all that's required to obtain it is as long as you beat the time by the time you meet the save requirement, you're "golden." Not really, it's a silver talisman, but you know what I mean

Simple 8 - Dodgy Plumbing Perhaps the best level of the pack IMO in regards to the talisman  It pretty much reminds me of the huge buildereless level you can find somewhere in the final ranks in each of the numbered Lemmings Plus packs. In this case, none of the 3 constructive skill types are allowed. This was very fun to figure out! On top of the talisman, you have more than enough of everything here so that you don't have to worry about running out of skills, though I managed to use all but 1 jumper  Some could easily be replaced with the shimmier skill instead for cancelling skill purposes.

Simple 9 - Danger, Danger! Somewhat difficult to figure out, especially the talisman, but that was because I kept overlooking the fact that everyone is a preassigned climber. As a result, there's no need to mine them out :forehead: This was still fun to figure out, the hard 5 skill limit really makes you think here. Compression FTW, especially as these are somewhat slow triggering traps. It's still necessary to disarm some while there isn't much you can do about the ones that are hanging on the wall. I could be wrong about that, I still will check out Dexter's talisman solution.

Simple 10 - Bombing Run Redux I spent a little longer here than I needed to, but that was only because I was needlessly fiddling around with the release of the disarmer and making sure he can turn around on the blocker in time in order to mine the crowd out and disarm the trap :forehead: Not sure why it took me a while to realize that you can recycle the blockers and bomb them in order to make climber friendly walls for the disarmer to come back into position to mine. A very nice level to finish off the rank, even if the talisman is somewhat easy to figure out!

Tricky Rank Feedback

The levels here are a bit harder than the ones in the previous rank, but they still aren't very hard thanks to how the levels are open-ended, even when the talisman is considered, though the talisman solutions are slightly more restrictive than the Simple rank ones due to less degrees of freedom. Some of them were still fun to figure out nevertheless! ;)

Spoiler

Tricky 1 - Shantytown Very nice level to start the rank. The talisman was especially fun to figure out, as you need to really know your platformer mechanics, such as making two build together so that one of their bricks hits the other to get interrupted and turn to take a different path from the others, such as to make the splatform for them at the top. Nice job, Dexter

Tricky 2 - A Duet Somewhat easy to figure out, especially the talisman due to how it automatically locks the release with a laser so you can send a climber/glider out to free the other entrance and then you can use the freed entrance to free the other. Everything pretty much falls into place after that, especially as the miners have to go in the middle as you can't use the fencers to go through the sides due to the trap(s). Nice level from ∫tan x, his first of the pack :)

Tricky 3 - Which Way, Mr. Scarecrow? This was the hardest level for me, especially the talisman and with how it gets very chaotic quickly with all the splitters and moving parts in the level. I was able to solve it by satisfying the no more than 25 skills total part, but once again I overlooked the save all requirement :forehead: The latter requirement combined with the skill limit makes the level much harder. I also kept going about the level wrong, especially with maxing out the RR and putting it back down to the default. Took me a long time to realize that you just need to find the ideal RR so that the splitter on the platform just below the starting platforms will never allow a zombie to go through to the left. 70 seemed to have done the trick here. Very nice non-trivial walkers/jumpers level!

Tricky 4 - Pipe Dream Fairly challenging talisman to figure out but somewhat fun too. Took me a while to figure out where to place the blocker and how to free him later on. I checked against ∫tan x's solution and that part is the same. Where we differ is around the middle right area. His is somewhat simpler than mine, especially as we differ in how we get through the obstacles near the exit and how to get the right-most button. Great level, though!

Tricky 5 - Beware the Serpent! Ugh, of course I really overcomplicated how to get everyone down safely, especially at the start! :forehead: Can't believe I missed the ramp in the upper right that allows you to bash through so that when you build you can drop down safely. Interesting that I missed that but I figured out that part at the bottom with bashing the wall low enough. In any case, my solution shows a different way to get down safely, albeit one that requires a lot of precision and the real possibility of running out of the non-builder necessary skills. Still a good level!

Tricky 6 - Quad Core Easy level for the most part and can be considered a breather, just for some reason I missed the simple dig for a while and then fence up to the right with the upper entrance :forehead: Look at me overcomplicating stuff with trying to get the bottom entrance up with a fencer and builder

Tricky 7 - Vive La Revolution! Easy one, especially as you have way more than enough skills and it's very easy to contain the zombies once you get the pickups. Can be a bit of a breather level as a result, just like the previous level.

Tricky 8 - The Triad Even with the talisman, this is very easy, though there's still some things the player needs to make sure to take care of, such as the splat fall with the right-most entrance. Other than that, it's still easy even with the builder limit because you have plenty of other skills that allow you to get through the level without using builders.

Tricky 9 - Fear Knot Nice title that's a play on "fear not!" This one is quite possibly another that's hard to figure out the talisman to, although I think as long as you figure out a way to get down as much as possible with the digger then it will come somewhat easily. My solution is different from Dexter's, since I went down the left side, while he went down the right. Nice level depicting the intertwining of wires/cables, similar to how you would see a desktop computer setup.

Tricky 10 - Zen Rock Garden Very nice level to finish off the pack. Even moreso as the pack starts with an Autumn level and ends on one. The talisman is quite a nice challenge here, especially as it pretty much relies on doing as much of the level as possible without builders. Once again, my solution is different from tan x's, though in my solution I had two Lemmings in the end that I wouldn't be able to solve without losing the talisman in the process. It might be tweak-able to allow them to be saved, though. Not sure. Great job to ∫tan x with the final level! ;)

All in all, even though this is a short 20-level pack and is much easier than their other level packs, I must say I enjoyed this very much! This especially continued the very huge and nice break, along with Lemmings Heritage which I did previously and before this one, from all the brutally difficult levels I endured in DavidLems  Even if I was a dummy at times in my LP, I definitely enjoyed myself while playing the pack

Thank you so much to both Dexter and ∫tan x for this amazing level pack, but especially to Dexter for these new, awesome looking tilesets!

Nice pack concept with easy levels that turn into quite the challenge when trying to get the talisman. :)

Hi kaywhyn and IchoTolot!

Thank you for your responses!

Sorry for the delayed reply, we've both been busy recently.

We've both looked through all of your replays, and all of your solutions were very creative! We've decided to respond to the level replays that were the most surprising to us:

Here's my response for my levels:
Spoiler

Fields of Gold - I made the talisman for this level with going underneath the one way arrows in mind. :forehead: I should've known you would manage to go over it instead! Amazing!

Lazuli - This one was a blast to watch you solve! I was kind of blown away by your solution, as I didn't think it would be possible to do that with the limited number of builders! The name is a reference to lapis lazuli, a blue-coloured rock.

Stepping Stones - Great work! You certainly saved a lot of time on this one.

Dodgy Plumbing - I'm glad you liked this one! The talisman for this is one of my favourites, too.

Shantytown - Nicely done! Your solution actually differs from mine quite a bit - your use of the platformer mechanic to turn a lemming round actually makes way more sense than my solution, and could be used to save a lot of time.

Which Way, Mr. Scarecrow? - I was initially surprised that you found this one so hard, but in retrospect it's a very tricky talisman because it's difficult to plan ahead - there's no real way to predict how the lemmings / zombies will be moved around by the scarecrows. Your solution of changing the release rate in order to help with the save/skill requirement is a genius idea that I hadn't considered at all when I was creating the level, amazing!

Beware the Serpent! - This one was a blast to watch you solve! I can't believe you missed that ramp in the upper right, either! Great work!

Vive La Revolution! - I actually laughed out loud when you dug a pit and buried the zombies inside of it. Very fun and creative solution!

Fear Knot - This one is one of the few levels where I made the level first with no solution in mind (as you can probably tell based on how chaotic the landscape is ). There's probably a ton of solutions but they're all tricky to find with the very limited skillset. Great job!

My brother's response for the tricky rank:
Spoiler

The Triad: Nice solve! You mentioned in your video that you found this level to be somewhat easy, and that's entirely fair. In truth, my brother and I are really bad at judging the difficulty of a level. This one seemed like it fit near the end of the rank! :P

Zen Rock Garden: Some nice ascension skills here! Getting everybody up that wall was very fun. :)

Nice pack concept with easy levels that turn into quite the challenge when trying to get the talisman. :)

I've just finished watching your replays, and there are some really amazing creative solutions here!

I was particularly amazed by your solutions for Simple #6, Simple #8, Tricky #1, Tricky #7
Spoiler

Lazuli - Another fantastic solution to this one! Very intricate, how you dug down to create a one-pixel high platform - I could easily see somebody making a difficult puzzle around that concept

Stepping Stones - Very similar to kaywhyn's solution, you both saved a ton of time by building straight up to the second row. In retrospect, I probably should have put another button on the far side of the level.

Dodgy Plumbing - That staircase made from bashers in the latter half of the level was extremely fun and satisfying to look at. Great job!

Danger, Danger! - I was actually surprised that there are so many possible solutions for the talisman for this one. Both you and kaywhyn opted to disarm the floor traps in order to save more lemmings which I hadn't thought of, but which makes total sense. Brilliant!

Shantytown - Another level that I didn't realise how many solutions it had! I thought for certain that with the very restrictive skillset there would be only one. :forehead:

Vive La Revolution - Another very satisfying solution, especially when all four climbers jump off the wall simultaneously.

My brother's response for the tricky rank:
Spoiler

The Triad: Some nice lemming control here, and you saved more than enough builders! Nice one.

Zen Rock Garden: Wow! 100% saved! That's crazy! :P

@tan x

Yea, no worries. That's why I like providing feedback on the difficulty ;) It's pretty common for designers to fall into the trap of underestimating/overestimating the difficulty of their own levels. The reason for this is simple: You as the designer know what's intended, while others who play your levels don't. I myself fall victim to this trap of misjudging the difficulty of my own levels all the time! :P It's especially true with the former, as I constantly think my levels aren't that difficult, only to be proven very wrong about that from the feedback I receive, including from both Armani and Icho. If my levels give even these two a good run of their solving skills, then I need to stop thinking my levels are easy relatively speaking to the other contest entries and drop that incorrect personal notion of mine!

Just posting this to mention the two new ranks - see the OP for details!

92Dexter11

Just posting this to mention that the brass levels have been updated to conform with the new dex_brass style update, removing deprecated pieces. I've tested all the replays and they all work the same, so it shouldn't have too much of a noticable effect on gameplay. If you have the old version of the levels, that shouldn't matter either, since the neolemmix engine is equiped to handle it. Still, let me know if there are any problems.

Hello Dexter and tan x,

I have completed the 20 new levels of the brand new Safe and Treacherous ranks of the pack update  My entire replay collection is attached, but you only need to check the Safe and Treacherous replays :) In addition, I simply included the replay for which I obtained the talisman to make things easier ;)

Link to my LP, start at part 6 :)

Kaywhyn's Lemmings Faithful LP Playlist

Enjoy! :P

In the last video, I went back to get any talismans I missed, as I apparently missed them for both Safe 3 and Treacherous 2 without realizing it! :XD: :-[

As usual, the levels are intended to be easy and open-ended if one doesn't bother with the talisman challenge solutions. Some of these are far harder when going for the talisman, significantly in some cases! Even then, a lot of them were very enjoyable and satisfying to figure out!

Safe Rank Feedback

The Safe rank is now the second rank in the newest update that includes the 5 brand new tilesets of Dexters' that were released earlier this year. It's essentially the same as the Simple rank in that they consist of the easier levels of the brand new tilesets, as also indicated by the connotations of the rank name.

Spoiler
Safe 1 - Let's Get Down to Business Very nice level to start off the new pack update. As mentioned, you made me really happy for including a reference to the "Be a Man" song from the Disney film Mulan in both the level title and talisman name!  I think I could had made things easier by holding the crowd in that pit around the middle of the level and then later release them at the right time to also get the talisman.

Safe 2 - Bed of Roses Wow, this level is significantly harder without the use of either floaters or lasers! :lem-shocked: Really nice challenge, although I'm wondering if I made the level harder than it needed to be when it comes to getting the talisman ??? I'll have to check your replay. Also I realized too late that I didn't even need to bash to the left where I also bashed to the right near the bottom of the level :-[ :forehead: The part of the level I especially like was the basher to the right just above the level where everyone arrives and gets compressed in order to avoid the splat pads elsewhere in order to get down safely!

Safe 3 - Diamond in the Rough Another awesome level with a reference to a different Disney film, this time Aladdin, in both the level title and talisman name. Both Mulan and Aladdin are big favorite Disney films of mine! This was one of the levels where I missed the talisman without realizing it due to a grave miscalculation error on my part! :-[ So, I went back and obtained it at the end of the final LP video, though that time I encountered a bug where the post-results screen wouldn't load until I clicked with the mouse. I edited that part of the video out so that it comes up after about 5 seconds or so, though I also clicked out of the results screen very quickly so that I didn't see if I obtained the talisman or not. I have confirmed that I met it from the level select screen, as well as pausing the video at the right spot :) Nice level, though certainly a significant challenge due to the zombies and how I used a very heavy timing based solution in order to get everyone to the exit before the zombies could infect them! At the same time, I tend to struggle with zombie levels when playing and solving them! :P I also partially loaded up my replay for the level and took it from there to erase the bomber assignment I used since even one loss doesn't net you the talisman. You have to save all of the regular Lemmings plus all cloners!

Safe 4 - Brass Tacks Much easier than the previous level, whether or not the talisman is considered. I especially like the part near the exit where one needs to do reverse mining in order to get the crowd up to the exit  Same thing with platforming over the wrong way force field! :)

Safe 5 - Enchanted Hmm, didn't realize it at the time, but would this be another Disney reference in the level title? I have seen Enchanted a long time ago, though the thing that makes me think it isn't is due to the talisman name, as I'm certain that it's not a reference to the Enchanted film in any way. Wow, this was a really great talisman! That 1 minute time attack really made think, how's that possible? Ah, the power of the quick laser and basher!  The talisman was very satisfying to figure out

Safe 6 - Doors and Gates Looks intimidating but this one wasn't as bad as I thought. I think I could had made things easier if I had sent the right amount of Lemmings to get the buttons to unlock the exit so that perhaps it wouldn't be necessary to put the blocker in front of the locked exit who gets rescued once it unlocks. I'm glad you both like that part of my solution! Remember it, it comes in very handy, though I think I remember it featuring in a LemRunner level? ???

Safe 7 - Lepidopterophobia Ah, this is a new word I learned, that being the fear of butterflies as indicated by the talisman name. Yea, the talisman isn't my cup of tea due to stoner staircases not being a favorite of mine in NL :P I wasn't even sure if the normal route would work but it does, and just barely with the right amount to save. Perhaps things could had been made easier by using the maximum width of the stoner possible by jumping to get in the right spots so that stoners aren't quite touching when arriving but will be once stoned. I think the talisman essentially leaves only one possible way to do the level, though I'll have to check your replay to make sure.

Safe 8 - Cursed Treasure Much easier than the previous one, regardless of whether or not the talisman is considered. This was pretty fun to figure out, especially with making sure you apply the right permanent skills to the Lemming before he gets turned into a neutral for which you wouldn't be able to assign any skills. That was really good! I'm also barely realizing that going under should still be feasible to obtain the talisman, though that would mean sacrifices would need to be made :P

Safe 9 - Unstable Egress Wow, this talisman was really good too! It really reminds me of Epsilon 3 from Integral Lemmings with there being so many exits in many ways but they're like considered traps :) Also, I'm wrong about the other exits being fake, they're just locked with exit limits, as I did see the button in the level at the very top but it took playing Treacherous 1 for me to realize that :P They can indeed be used, but they're impossible in regards to the talisman since lasers are prohibited. The part to help the neutrals avoid the exit on the right side after turning back to the left was especially good! Time attack condition shouldn't really be a problem here ;)

Safe 10 - RIDE THE PIPES! Nice level to finish off the rank, though not too difficult, even with the talisman considered ;) It was really all about building over the traps to help the neutrals over before the neutrals arrived. Getting down out of the water was great :)

Treacherous Rank Feedback

Essentially the equivalent of the Tricky rank, where the levels here are the harder ones but in the 5 brand new tilesets released earlier this year instead. Some of these levels are especially much harder when it comes to the talisman but were great challenges nevertheless!

Spoiler
Treacherous 1 - Rift Walkers Nice first level of tan x's of the new pack update to start off the rank. Without bashers is a tad bit harder but still shouldn't be too much of a problem. This was the level that made me realized the other exits on Safe 9 aren't fake but rather are just locked with exit limits

Treacherous 2 - Long Shot Another one where I misremembered the talisman requirements :-[ Hmm, I'm wondering if Dexter got inspiration from Icho's Skyfall here for it? ??? The concept of lining up the bomber holes features here, just like Icho's level. Very nice level where only the neutrals can be saved, regardless of whether you go for the talisman or not. I know of at least one Festival Millas level where only neutrals can be rescued while all the regular Lemmings are sacrifices.

Treacherous 3 - Pumping Station Nice concept of making sure the pre-assigned swimmer Lemmings at the very top fall into the water so they don't splat, just takes a while to get everything to work out due to the getting high up in the level to get the button and a lot of building. Even then, the talisman of no floaters is a far more significant challenge but a great one! ;) The time limit can be a problem, but only if you allow it to be. Luckily you have an excessive amount of surplus skills in case the timing doesn't work out. Also took me a while to realize that sliders need to be used in order to get into place around the middle of the level to keep building up

Treacherous 4 - Sacred Cloisters Difficult one, but that's because I struggled the most with figuring out how to get the buttons to unlock the exit while also struggling with not running out of skills and/or not meeting the save requirement :XD: The frog traps are also difficult to get past since they're quick triggering, similar to the chameleon trap of the ONML Rock style, but that wasn't the hardest part for me. Took me a while to realize that one can laser from the right side in order to release a climber from the crowd to get the buttons in an efficient manner. Apparently fell for the trap of trying to laser through to get the button on the far right, when in fact you can simply shimmier to get over the water gap. Also it took me a long time to realize only one needs to survive the gauntlet instead of two, as one is enough to get the rest of the level solved and to obtain the talisman. I always like builderless/no constructives talismans!

Treacherous 5 - Bamboo Grove Much easier than either of the previous two, though here I forgot about the time attack requirement for the talisman! :XD: It's all about realizing to send someone over the top but instead of bashing from the other side, you simply have someone from the crowd bash to release the crowd. Nice level!

Treacherous 6 - Pushing Up Daisies Harder than the previous one, though I also made my solution more precise than it needs to be when I platformed near the exit to allow the sliders to turn back towards it :P I had a feeling that the intention is to platform all the way at the top, I simply didn't realize how to do it  Nice level, and I especially like how the flower trap just wilts and falls over when being disarmed!

Treacherous 7 - Dragon's Nest Looks somewhat intimidating due to the size and many dragon head traps, but as usual the level is much harder when going for the talisman. Even then, I didn't find this one too bad, though I was inefficient with my constructives in one area, when in fact a better way is to go under the trap so that they can be saved for elsewhere :forehead: Another nice level!

Treacherous 8 - Subjugation Wow, this is like the third submarine level I've played! Somewhat difficult, though I kind of miscalculated when it comes to the talisman as well :forehead: It's a far harder challenge when going for the talisman. I kept trying to find ways to see if I could reduce the amount of cloners used for the water section, before I had realized the neutral at the start is a disarmer  Once I noticed it thanks to a restart of the level due to not noticing the disarmer icon before, then I was able to plan out the level better to get the talisman. As I suspected, I did indeed make some parts harder than it needed to be. Platforming over the wrong way force field to catch the others was especially nice, and same thing with releasing them with a laser.

Treacherous 9 - Heard it through the grapevine Not a terribly difficult level even with the talisman, but still significantly harder when going for it since you cannot destroy the level in any way with the destructive skills. I was really close in a lot of my earlier attempts, when in fact I was simply missing the shimmier at the bottom to isolate a worker. This does allow you to simply build to turn around in order to make the splatform going to the left, therefore one doesn't even need to go to the far right at the top :P Before realizing this, I kept trying to see if the start can be done with less than 4 builders in order to save that crucial builder to release the crowd at the bottom of the level, but that turns out to be impossible. Also can't believe I never realized the shimmier in order to glide onto the leaf to turn around at the top right! :forehead: Nice level and great job to tan x for stumping me for a while here!

Treacherous 10 - Ring of Fire Wow, an excellent level to finish off the new update to Lemmings Faithful! Quite possibly the best puzzle and level in the entire pack IMHO! The save all talisman requirement was especially satisfying to figure out. I love how the solution all comes together as you piece it one by one. The skill-deassigner is especially a nice puzzle and allows you to give the "powered down" Lemming a glider as it no longer is a pre-assigned floater. It also gets rid of the nuisance of the slider skill which can be a pain to work with both as a level designer and player. Pretty much all skills are accounted for, though I managed to save a shimmier but is likely not a problem at all. When I figured out nearly all of the level, the remaining problem to solve was coming up a basher short, but that was simply due to realizing only one worker Lemming is needed rather than two, as the one who gets the jumper pickup can save himself rather than needing assistance from another. The part with building in order to get high enough in both directions with the worker is quite nice! :)

Overall, the new Lemmings Faithful update is a very worthwhile addition and I can highly recommend giving the new Safe and Treacherous ranks a look! The 5 brand new styles in particular are all very good :) Thank you Dexter for the new styles and also to tan x for the brand new levels!

My favorites here were Safe 1, Safe 3, Safe 4, Safe 5, Safe 8, Safe 9, Treacherous 2, Treacherous 5, Treacherous 9, and Treacherous 10  As mentioned, IMO Treacherous 10 is probably my favorite in the entire pack!

Hi Kaywhyn! Thank you so much for your thoughtful responses. Your letsplay/replays were, as always, extremely creative and fun to watch. Here's the responses for my levels that I have the most to say about:

Safe rank

QuoteSafe 1 - Let's Get Down to Business Very nice level to start off the new pack update. As mentioned, you made me really happy for including a reference to the "Be a Man" song from the Disney film Mulan in both the level title and talisman name!  I think I could had made things easier by holding the crowd in that pit around the middle of the level and then later release them at the right time to also get the talisman.
I was really happy you caught the Disney reference right away! When I make graphics or levels, I often have music in the background. I listened to that song a lot during the creation of the pack, so I wanted to make a tribute to it!

QuoteSafe 3 - Diamond in the Rough Another awesome level with a reference to a different Disney film, this time Aladdin, in both the level title and talisman name.
Both your solutions to this level were very impressive - for your first try, we were very impressed by the bomber trick to trap the zombies, even if it failed the talisman. Your talisman solution was even more impressive, with amazing timing avoiding the zombies! Originally, the talisman for this level was gold for precisely this reason - I thought the timing needed to avoid the zombies was too severe. However, very late in to development (after I had already recorded a replay) I realised that the talisman could be easily achieved by
Spoiler
making the very last lemming collect the cloners, bypassing the zombies entirely.
I downgraded the talisman to silver after realising this.

QuoteSafe 5 - Enchanted Hmm, didn't realize it at the time, but would this be another Disney reference in the level title? I have seen Enchanted a long time ago, though the thing that makes me think it isn't is due to the talisman name, as I'm certain that it's not a reference to the Enchanted film in any way.
This isn't a Disney reference - I couldn't think of what to title this one, so I simply called it 'Enchanted', as this was what the 'grotto' style was originally called while it was in development and I hadn't thought of a better name for it. (The talisman solution for 'Subjugation' is the same - brass style was at one point called 'fathom' and then 'nautilus' before I settled on 'brass')

QuoteWow, this was a really great talisman! That 1 minute time attack really made think, how's that possible? Ah, the power of the quick laser and basher!  The talisman was very satisfying to figure out
Thank you! I'm very proud of this level, and it was a joy watching you figure out the talisman solution.

QuoteSafe 6 - Doors and Gates Looks intimidating but this one wasn't as bad as I thought. ???
As I mentioned on discord, your solution for this level surprised us! It's mainly because of the save requirement and the inability to dislodge a blocker in that level - we both wrote off using blockers as a viable strategy and completely forgot about the exit trick!

QuoteSafe 7 - Lepidopterophobia Ah, this is a new word I learned, that being the fear of butterflies as indicated by the talisman name.
Yeah, the talisman solution for this one is very nasty. I think there's barely enough lemmings to make it through using only bomber/stoners.

QuoteSafe 9 - Unstable Egress Wow, this talisman was really good too! Time attack condition shouldn't really be a problem here ;)
Another solution that was really fun to watch you figure out - it's a fun 'lightbulb moment' when you realise you have to make all the neutrals climb up to the exit on the right in order to get the talisman.

Treacherous rank

QuoteTreacherous 2 - Long Shot Another one where I misremembered the talisman requirements :-[ Hmm, I'm wondering if Dexter got inspiration from Icho's Skyfall here for it? ??? The concept of lining up the bomber holes features here, just like Icho's level. Very nice level where only the neutrals can be saved, regardless of whether you go for the talisman or not. I know of at least one Festival Millas level where only neutrals can be rescued while all the regular Lemmings are sacrifices.
I'm afraid I'm not familiar with that level. The talisman solution for this one is a remake of an old level of mine called 'Depth Charge' that used pretty much the same trick.

QuoteTreacherous 4 - Sacred Cloisters Difficult one, but that's because I struggled the most with figuring out how to get the buttons to unlock the exit while also struggling with not running out of skills and/or not meeting the save requirement :XD: The frog traps are also difficult to get past since they're quick triggering, similar to the chameleon trap of the ONML Rock style, but that wasn't the hardest part for me. I always like builderless/no constructives talismans!
Another level that I loved watching you solve. I did find it somewhat amusing that you figured out the talisman solution immediately, but were stumped by the rest of the level - I was expecting it to be the other way round :P!

Also, I think I've said in the past that I'm really bad at judging the difficulty for the order of each level, and that's definitely a factor here. However there was also a big problem deciding the level order for the treacherous rank because of arbitrary rules I set myself. I wanted each level to alternate between my levels and tan x dx's levels, but also because I did not want two levels in a row to be the same style for the sake of variety. This is the main reason why the difficulty seems to jump all over the place for the second rank.

QuoteTreacherous 6 - Pushing Up Daisies Harder than the previous one, though I also made my solution more precise than it needs to be when I platformed near the exit to allow the sliders to turn back towards it :P I had a feeling that the intention is to platform all the way at the top, I simply didn't realize how to do it
Damn! I thought for sure this level couldn't be backrouted. I should know better than to underestimate your problem-solving skills!

QuoteNice level, and I especially like how the flower trap just wilts and falls over when being disarmed!

QuoteTreacherous 10 - Ring of Fire Wow, an excellent level to finish off the new update to Lemmings Faithful! Quite possibly the best puzzle and level in the entire pack IMHO! The save all talisman requirement was especially satisfying to figure out. I love how the solution all comes together as you piece it one by one.
Thank you! I'm really proud of this one too and thought it was a great level to end the pack on. I'm glad you agree!

QuoteThe skill-deassigner is especially a nice puzzle and allows you to give the "powered down" Lemming a glider as it no longer is a pre-assigned floater. This solution is actually somewhat of a backroute, since the intended solution involves
Spoiler
building a bridge at the bottom of the level to catch the glider
However, your solution did involve gliding through the disarmer which is the main trick, so I'll allow it!

I'm really glad you enjoyed the pack! Thank you again for your thoughtful responses and for uploading your letsplay when you did - it really was perfect timing!
