I was just thinking about this, and I decided to let everyone know my idea.

Perhaps we can have a live chat room somewhere in case there are instant questions about Lemmings that need answering. I do not want to go ahead with until Mr Ksoft or someone lets me know what they think about the idea.

The chat room can be linked from the forum. The topics on the forum can be used in the chat room, like 'The Lemmings Remake', as there have been quite a few posts in that topic, and it may be easier to have instant conversations about the topic.

I will not continue further until you all give your opinions on the idea.

Tim.

IRC might work? Can't say I'm personally likely to be on though.

Chmera

Hey, I'll probably be there if there was. Roleplays are easier to work on IRC, too.

Mindless

Unfortunately, #lemmings is taken on irc.freenode.net (server of choice)... any other ideas for channel names?

Shvegait

I would've suggested #lemmingswelt, but realized we're not on that forum anymore  :XD:

How about #lemming singular? or #lemmingz
Or #lemchat, or #lems, or #lemons...

Or #justdig or #ohno or #armageddon (probably taken though) or #greenhair...

Or...

Mindless

After chatting w/ one of the freenode staff, I've registered ##lemmings (on irc.freenode.net)
Apparently on freenode # channels are supposed to be reserved for software development. :undecided:  ## can be anything else

(to be fair, partly because I don't have the software, or an internet connection in my house)

Mr. K

Java applet?  I could go set up one quick.

I would have earlier said just to use the IRC that's in the topic in Off-Topic, but it's more generalized, and the server is in a bit of turmoil.  Services are out, nobody is online, and the admin in currently in a mental institution for an unknown amount of time.

So... I think this will work.  I am an IRC fan so I approve.

Chmera

D'you think we should have a scheduled chat time?

Liebatron

That would maybe ruin the point I think. The point, to be able to get questions answered immediately, would be killed if you had to wait for your immediate answer.

Shvegait

Huh? You know, if there ISN'T a scheduled time, whenever you go there, you will probably be the only one there, and that is depressing. I think there definitely needs to be a scheduled time for this to work, given activity levels (from past experiences with people making chat rooms like this). People aren't just gonna sit around at their computer in an IRC channel all day, well, most people :winktounge:

(12:27:44) The topic for ##lemmings is: lemmings | http://www.ksoftgames.idiotstudios.net/lemmings/
(18:17:44) You are now known as MXD|eating
(18:38:05) You are now known as MindlessXD

some of us do (it's about 22:15 right now :)

Chmera

But still. The point isn't that NO ONE is allowed to be on at any time other than the scheduled ones - scheduled chat times are mostly to get more than a couple of people on at once, with some degree of knowing when that'll be.

Tim

A new Chat Room for the Lemmings Forum is up and running!

Ok, after some searching on the internet, I have found that I can create a free chat room on my own website that allows a maximum of 10 members at any one time.

I think this is a good start for everyone here to have a quick chat about the game.
-The Lemmings Remake
-Favourite Levels
-Created Level Packs
-Technical Help
-All other topics in our forum

The link to the lemmings page below contains the chat room (at the bottom of the page):

System Requirements: Java Enabled Browser

I really hope this will work!

Tim.
