As my new project ,  I have made a video that contains solutions for eight custom levels ,  that require one of the most exotic glitches , ever existed in any Lemmings game!  ( or maybe the most exotic ? ) . As you can see in the video that glitch due to it's nature , can have several different uses/applications. Prepare for eight levels that push the physics of the game to their limits!

Levels in the video :

The entire geooPkG pack ( by Geoo ) :

(Un)pleasant side effect
One Step Ahead
Reverse effect
Steel in Motion
Cascade
Feet on Fire

"Don't Stop Me Now!" by Geoo ( from the geooPk1 pack )

My level , "Unreachable Heights"

As for the solutions , Geoo has provided me the solution for Cascade. All other solutions are mine!

Many thanks to Geoo who's help , made this video possible!

Lovely showcase and presentation, thanks!

Description of the glitch

Moving a trigger area.

These levels become solvable by moving downwards a trigger area. Exit triggers, trap triggers, steel areas: all these can be moved. Lemmings remembers these triggers on a separate map, one trigger info per chunk of 4x4 terrain pixels.

Method
  • Place a blocker on the trigger area that you want to move.
  • The blocker overwrites the trigger with his two blocker fields that turn other lemmings. The blocker remembers the overwritten trigger, so the blocker can write back this trigger when the blocker is released/exploded.
  • Assign an exploder to the blocker.
  • During oh-no, remove the earth underneath the blocker.
  • The oh-noer will fall.
  • The oh-noer will explode, and thereby write back the remembered trigger to his current position.
The glitch exploits that the remembered trigger is written to a different position than where the trigger was remembered.

Result
  • At the source, The blocker removes exits/traps/steel/... and leaves behind his blocker field even after his death.
  • At the destination, the blocker writes the source trigger to his final location while dying.

Thank you for your description of the glitch , and for your comments!

Next week also , I will try to search the challenges board , for the max savings solution for Wicked 7 by ccexplore , that used this glitch, so I can post it in my channel too!

A lot of the old replays from challenge topics have been lost due to a bug in a past incarnation of the forum. No idea if this was among them, but I was able to figure out and create a replay for this solution. It's actually quite a tricky one even when you know how the glitch works.

3D Lemmings: Loap (engine) | L3DEdit (level / graphics editor) | L3DUtils (replay / etc utility) | Lemmings Plus 3D (level pack)
Non-Lemmings: Commander Keen: Galaxy Reimagined (a Commander Keen fangame)

Thank you Namida!

I have downloaded your solution , and around the end of the week I will post it in my channel!

The reason I won't post it today , is because today I will go to my hometown for some days , and in this case I won't be able to make videos there! But when I will return at the end of the week , I will make a video with your solution!

So , here is Namida's 95% solution ( 76/80 lemmings saved ) , for Oh No! More lemmings Wicked 7 ( Last Lemming to Lemmingcentral ) , which uses the glitch ,  mentioned in this thread!

Wow, that's so cool, especially the explosion sound effect. Gave me a really good giggle hearing it. How did you do that?

First of all , the solution I have posted today is Namida's solution! The glitch that the solution uses , has been described in detail by Simon in the second post of the thread , and one characteristic of the glitch is that it can have several different forms/applications! The video I have posted in the opening post of the thread , contains eight levels that explore all these different forms of the glitch! (It contains seven levels by Geoo and one level by me , and seven solutions by me and one solution by Geoo).

Oh dang, I clearly missed that. I have not played with the most recent Lemmix build. Or, rather I have, just never tried out the bomber. It's a really cool sound effect, so I'm glad he incorporated it. Much better than the "bop" sound lol.

That is a very interesting glitch! It makes a lot of sense too, I like that. :)
