Lemmings NES

I'm talking about the old school 8-bit NES, not Super.

Anyone have a clue on solving Taxing Level 21 called "Cloud Base One"?  I can't find a walkthrough for the NES version of Lemmings anywhere.  And I've been stuck on this level for a while.

I've found the codes for all the levels, but I want to know how to actually solve it.

Please help!  Thanks

Turns out the FAQ on GameFAQs only covers Fun

Fortunately, all the recent talks about Lemmings on primitive console systems finally got to my curiosity, so I downloaded the NES ROM and an emulator check out the level.

Turns out this is just a slightly harder version of Tricky 27 (Island of the Wicker People) in "normal" Lemmings, with the following stat changes:

save 12/14
RR 60
Time 4 minutes

Climber: 1
Exploder: 2
Blocker: 2
Builder: 3
Basher: 1
Miner: 2

(Note to non-NES people: &#A0;in the NES version the builder goes at a 45-degree angle, and so it effectly can go twice as high as in the normal versions. &#A0;The miner also acts a little differently and goes at a 45-degree angle, and makes "big" strokes.)

I think most people here can figure this one out immediately, so I'm not even going to bother to to the usual invisible text thing:

SOLUTION BELOW

Consult the solution for Tricky 27 at http://home.wanadoo.nl/lemmings-solution/lemmings/lemmings_tricky_levels21-30.html. &#A0;To adapt it to this level, send just one lemming over the one-way wall (you only have 1 climber anyway), and replace the blocker at far right with a miner mining down a few times, then make him build to stop the mining and turn around. &#A0;Remember to make him bash thru the one-way wall first before you build to the exit!

That sounds very similar to Game Boy Lemmings. The miner's work always appears in front of him before he's even gone that far :-?

My impression, based on playing the NES version on an emulator and seeing screenshots of the GameBoy version on deveria.com/alexis, is that the NES and GameBoy version are probably pretty much identical.

The NES version is not as bad as I thought. &#A0;Some of the graphics are even strikingly good for an NES. &#A0;But I definitely prefer the more responsive gameplay of the normal versions.

It can be somewhat more challenging than the normal versions, but for mostly bad reasons. &#A0;For example, when you pause the game, the only thing you can do is to move the cursor around, you can't even change the currently selected skill while pausing. &#A0;And skill assignments are not instantaneously, they almost seem location-based, meaning that once you assign a skill, the old skill seems to need to be carried out to a certain point before the new skill kicks in. &#A0;Oh, and the falling distance is shorter--Fun 3 for example the only survivable fall is off the lowest platform above the exit.

They must be near-identical then, the Fun 3 thing is exactly the same on GB Lemmings. You're right about the skill-location, it can get annoying when you want to place blockers at the end of a platform too, since the lemming may not respond in time and will plummet. It does add challenge though, and it makes you take into note about where a lemming will do the skill (This seems to be required for "They just keep on coming", since you have to place a builder accurately at one point). You can kiss precision-clicking goodbye though!

Is the NES version simply a matter of clicking on desired skills as normal? For the GB, you have to hold down B and select a skill with the D-pad, which is seemingly done due to the GB's small screen size.

Going off topic quite a bit, are Master System/Game Gear Lemmings identical? I haven't used my Game Gear in a while, so I'm considering it.

Sorry for being unclear, but the NES also use the same method for selecting skills, which is why I mentioned the inability to switch skills when paused being an issue.

Oh, no worries. It does make sense thinking about it, what with the small number of buttons on each control scheme.

Now I'm the one being unclear! Apologies, I meant to ask whether Game Gear Lemmings is identical to MS Lemmings. I think they can have up to 20 lemmings, and if I remember correctly there's a 2player mode aswell.
