Need help! How can I play Lemmings 2 custom levels on my pc?

ccexplore

It has been a while, but if I remember correctly you simply overwrite one of the LEVELxxx.DAT files in the game's LEVELS directory with the custom level.  This replaces the corresponding level in the game.   LEVEL000.DAT for example is Classic 1.  I believe the level file itself contains the data that actually determines the style and graphics sets that are used by the level, so even if the custom level is actually using some other tribe like Shadow or Circus, I think it will still work as intended even if you replace level Classic 1 with it.  If not, I think the first 2 of the 3 digits in the filename indicate the Tribe and the last digit indicates the level within the tribe (0-9 mapping to levels 1-10 for the tribe).

00x Classic
01x Beach
02x Cavelems
03x Circus
04x Egyptian
05x Highland
06x Medieval
07x Outdoor
08x Polar
09x Shadow
10x Space
11x Sports

For quick playtesting, rename the custom level file to LEVEL010.DAT (Beach 1). The game opens this level by default when you hit "Play" from the menu. It doesn't even have to be a Beach level, although the preview screen will look funny if it's not.

Ok thanks but can I get custom levels (Lemmings 2)? Can I download it from somewhere or I have to make it?
And another thing are we talking of DOS-box or WINUAE?

Check the Lemmings 2 section of this post, it should have all the relevant information: http://www.lemmingsforums.com/index.php?topic=804.0

In particular, you can find custom levels here: http://www.lemmingsforums.com/index.php?topic=289.0
