What if Lemmings (The Animal) did not exist? What animal would (lemmings) this game be centered around?

I understand that Lemmings was actually so named because of the behavior associated with the animal. Obviously, they look nothing like the tiny rodents. The next closest thing? Probably the moth. Little morons will actually fly into fire and burn to death just because they're attracted to the light.

They were probably named for the behaviour Lemmings are meant to exhibit. Of course, this turned out to be a Disney fallacy.

 Do any other animals exhibit this supposed behaviour? Mass suicide?

Oh, hang on. Yes. They're humanoid. They kill themselves with bombs. Lemmings are humans. :D

Or maybe they would have just randomly came up with the name lemmings.  Oh, by the way, to make some of the smileys, you have to insert them as images, but I don't know why.

"Cheesy" is one of them.
