We did a bunch of talks for this, you can see them online here: http://www.vimeo.com/22169889" class="bbc_link" target="_blank">http://www.vimeo.com/22169889, courtesy of Steve Hammond who tapped it.

There's also a bunch of Steve's pictures on flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/59694745@N03/sets/72157626086122152/with/5458405590/" class="bbc_link" target="_blank">http://www.flickr.com/photos/59694745@N03/sets/72157626086122152/with/5458405590/

Yeah.  memory and speed. Russell couldn't draw 100 lemmings (I think it was 80) so some levels were changed.

QuoteDid they? I don't know for sure, but from what I have read, there is a "one disk" and "two disks" version of the Amiga version and the special levels were added later. What would be a sensible reason for removing the extended graphic sets later on, after quite some effort has been invested to create them?

Sorry...just catching up.....well, better late than never.... :)

The 1st version was the Amiga one, and it had 2 disks. Disk 1 was the main game code and the intro. Disk 2 was the levels. The Original version had the 4 special levels and the 666 one (all of which done by me BTW). They were sometimes replaced in later versions/skews.

General Discussion / Old DMA Design Videos
September 17, 2007, 01:21:59 PM
I've been uploading my old videos which were taken during DMA's hay-days. Some of them are pretty good. The DMA Tour is funny to see, and the Tanktics intro is suprerb! (it was never used)

Anyway, you can see them here:http://uk.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=mikedailly

And theres some piccys to be seen here:http://www.flickr.com/photos/mikedailly.

I'll upload more when Flickr lets me log back in!  :mikeconfused:

Lemmings Main / Re: I'm currently correcting Lemmings

No he can't.  Sony own Lemmings, so it can't be made free by anyone other then them.

And yes it is still selling (which is increadible! 15+ years on) in Tesco and Asda/Walmart for ̣5.

Go on...some really hard questions for him to answer!!

Go on then!!  Bombard him with all the questions I couldn't answer!!

If you're all really nice...he might even release his updated Win95 Lemmings where he fixed a couple of bugs!

QuoteI sent out a mass email to all members so they can find the place again.

Cool!̆ The last time you're around I remembered you saying you have difficulty cracking the copy protection on your own disks containing the level editor!̆ I'm glad that problem has been solved.

Actually no... I haven't. I just ran the demo disk on my A1200 and took a couple of pictures with a digital camera. I have briefly looked at trying to save out the images, but I have no docs on how DMA Dos worked, only the Lemmings source - and it only loads! So, I dont know how to get a directory listing to see whats ON the disk.

Since the editor disk is older than the source I have, all the files have changed since then.

fixed - ta. I can never catch them all, so its good when they get pointed out.

QuoteThere should be a link from the last page of each chapter to the start of the next...... but other than that, good stuff!
Yep...Russell has already bitched at me about that, and since he now sits next to me at work, it doesn't take long for me to agree..... he can be very irritating when he wants to be.

Very nice read, I especially enjoyed reading about just how successful Lemmings was
Well, remember these figures were pre-PSOne, so I guess quite a few numbers have been added. But even beyond that, not many games get that even now. Only games like the Sims... not a lot!

I've rewritten the Lemmings story and added some more goodies to it. You can find it online at http://www.dmadesign.org

Also 2 pages from chapter 4 are now up (1991)

There was a rumour that it was getting scrapped - so I wouldn't hold your breath - but keep your fingers crossed that it'll come out - and not cost ̣40.

Not a lot really. I helped with the Audio, wrote the installer and the line draw for the map on the Amiga version.... oh and told them how to write the bouncing bomb....I think that was more or less it.
