First of all: Welcome to the forum! :)

So I assume you want to build your own pack if you want to use the Flexi Toolkit.

For the music: You actually just need to convert mp3 to OGG, as NeoLemmix also supports OGG's. Today a huge percentage of the custom tracks are in OGG format.

I assume that creating ranks, putting levels into them with the custom music included and maybe adding post/preview texts was self-explaining. (Levels Tab)
Also the general settings (Settings Tab) should not be the big problem I think.

So only to make sure:
- To manually add tilesets which are not the basic ones directly included in NeoLemmix (Graphic Sets tab)
- Put in all your music you wanna use + Maybe outsource some OGG tracks into a music pack if the nxp pack's file size is growing too big. (Musics tab)
- If you want import some custom graphics like logos or fitting rank signs in png format (Other Data tab) (Optional as a pack can simply use the default ones)

When everything is ready: Save it as a SYSTEM.dat file and then build the nxp.

And yes the guide to properly using the tool needs to be updated on the NeoLemmix website!

Assuming that I have 2 ways of editing in my NeoLemmix editor, I presume maybe it would be possible one of them.

For example, what's the first thing that you do? What are the first graphics that you install with NeoLemmix when it comes to editing? I mean, Dirt, Marble, Fire, etc... I don't know if everyone of you did this, but my NeoLemmix does have L2 and L3 graphics (and I think some other graphics are even from the community) to download inside of the program. Because I downloaded all the possible graphics that are available to edit on the NeoLemmix site.

Now I ask you...assuming I have this? It's wrong to edit with these things? o.O I don't think so...

Good day NathanBros :)

Thanks for helping me along the topics I've created. I have already 4 levels in my pack. (one in Fun rate, one in Tricky, one in Taxing and one in Mayhem)

I've got one last question, tough...if we put one level made by another person in our project we have to credit the person, right, or is it forbidden? And if it is possible, how do we credit the person in question?

Also it would be nice to find some site or some place for some more Lemmings graphics/tilesets since I cannot find many new ones here.

Thanks

Unfortunatelly...and after making (or at least trying) what you've been telling to me, it seems that it still won't work...somehow I got a feeling that I'm forgetting something, but I don't know what.

One thing you might want to check: In the editor the music file has to be entered without the file extension, i.e. "myMusic" instead of "myMusic.it".

Thanks, but it still won't work that way. I've put the file for you attached. Gotta go now, I'll be back later.

Somehow I'm also not being able to put the file in this forum, so I've put it on sendspace for you, here it is --> https://www.sendspace.com/file/9t4q1a

I have a file that it's not working (some .it file) when I play my level instead of playing my .it file, it plays "Can-Can" and I don't want that, I want it to play the new song (I already put the song in Flexi ToolKit, already tried to write the name of the file in NeoLemmix Editor, but nothing). Then I thought maybe I had to modify some "music.txt" file, but then I looked inside it "how am I supposed to modify such a thing if no one tells me to modify it?" so that's why I am so confused, lol.

didn't knew the music files here were PNG files. Seems like I'll have to convert again :\

Oops, sorry, I totally missed the attachments :-[.

There are two problems:
1) The level file uses some unusual names for styles, namely "levelpack1", "LEVELPACK1" and "LEVELPACK2". The L2 space pieces get displayed correctly, but the L1 pieces don't. Can you load your level correctly into your editor? Which editor version do you use, as displayed in "Help -> About"?

2) You have no ranks, no levels and no graphic styles included in your level pack. Load your SYSTEM.DAT into the FlexiToolit again, add your levels again and then use "Save" or "Save as..". You always have to save your current settings before clicking on "Build NXP", otherwise your latest changes get ignored.

I don't get it...I swear I edited everything including the rank in my System.dat on FlexiToolkit. The second problem doesn't really make sense to me. As I really did everything. About the first problem? I'll check it out.

EDIT: I managed to finally discover that I forgot to Export the .dat file, I thought I had to SAVE the .dat file instead of exporting it. But no I really had to export it, so here it is. Hope it works this time.

EDIT 2: Nope, still got the same error. I know that I am doing something wrong but I don't know what! lol.

The NeoLemmix player itself doesn't care about any SYSTEM.DAT files and does not produce them. They are only used to some meta infos that are needed to put the level pack files together. So overwriting them with a custom one should be fine, and I am still interested in seeing yours ;).

It is already available (I mean the custom SYSTEM.dat file) for download.

The player thinks that your level uses a graphic style called ".dat", i.e. just an empty name and then the file extension.
Without further info it is pretty hard to pin down the exact cause. So could you please post or PM me
- the file SYSTEM.DAT for the level pack you created
, which should be present in the folder you selected when you clicked "Save as..." in the Flexi Toolkit
- and the level file you tried to play.

Due to the question you're pointing to this subject, I suppose I have to tell you this. 'Cause this is what happened actually...I have overwrited the system.dat that came with the original NeoLemmix folder because if I did not do that the software wasn't allowing me to go further dunno how, so what I mean is, that the system.dat that I have is a customized one. Maybe this is not the best thing to do, but that was the only possible "EXIT" for me.

Note that CustLemmix is deprecated and should no longer be used. The up-to-date player is NeoLemmix V10.10.10.

Without knowing what you did exactly resp. what level file you used, we cannot be sure what caused the error. But I strongly suspect that CustLemmix complained that you tried to load a level file that uses a newer file format. For example, CustLemmix will crash every time you try loading a level that mixes graphic styles, because CustLemmix simply doesn't support this.

Thanks, I've posted an answer on Lemmings Help section to this post, because it almost worked for me this...but it didn't because another error appeared, so I went to explain there what was the error.

Thanks a lot for your help the same way :D

Help & Guides / The graphic set .dat could not be found
November 19, 2016, 01:01:06 PM
I've managed to "almost" run my project in order to test. But that's it, it was just almost, because when I was about to play the level, some error like this appeared:

"The graphic set .dat could not be found"

I mean what is it this time?

CustLemmix "Stream Read error" , what's this?

Just one thing I noticed. NeoLemmix Editor also comes with an option to download some graphics which I used for my 1st level (Space (Lemmings 2) and Crystal (Lemmings 1) based), so basically it is a mix of both, the song is the instrumental from the pop song "Sarsa - Naucz Mnie". Does this count as copying from NeoLemmix? And if it does can you please give me some link to a software where I can create my own graphics or something like that? I already tried to search something here, but nothing. And if that's not that easy to find (or to do), at least maybe some cool graphics available I could download from outside.

Regarding of the song:
I don't know that song, but be a bit careful with using copyrighted music. This can get problematic. I recommend copyright-free stuff or old video game music.
Also if maybe some users here want to do a video of them playing your levels with uploading it on YouTube or similar this can get problematic.

Furthermore if you have only a few (~ 5 let's say) levels you may also thinking about releasing them as single levels only. For a bunch it is better though to pack them together in a pack.

Thanks for reminding me, I totally forgot that.:lem-shocked:

EDIT: After searching for something more...and still speaking about the song, I was thinking on about something like this:
