Contests / Re: Level design contest #3!

Do the levels made need to be difficult to solve? I remember making one level that was a superlemming level, although I cant remember what it was exactly. But if that type is not accepted, dont worry I wont submit http://www.lemmingsforums.com/Smileys/lemmings/tongue.gif" alt=":P" title="Tongue" class="smiley" />

Help & Guides / Re: levelpack.ini for Lemmini use
November 26, 2013, 08:42:20 AM
Well then I will move the levels back to the other location and just load them individually. The problem now is that I cant find the thread where the winlemm files are located which Lemmini needs. I downloaded it yesterday but forgot where http://www.lemmingsforums.com/Smileys/lemmings/sad.gif" alt=":(" title="Sad" class="smiley" />

EDIT: Never find, got it. Funny thing is when I play the levels, they look and act normal. But yesterday, in Lemmix, the individual pictures didnt look 'transparent'. Weird.....

Is there a requirement to put the levels in a level pack like that or can I just load the individual levels from another location? I only have a small number of levels for my tilesets anyway...

Help & Guides / levelpack.ini for Lemmini use
November 26, 2013, 03:08:35 AM
So I need help with making this levelpack file for my custom graphics levels. Apparently Lemmini did not want to open after I created the folder in the same location as 1_orig and 2_ohno (its called 3_foxcustom) and moved my levels over to it, plus I was told I had to make this folder so that Lemmini could play my custom levels. Does it actually require the folder to be made?

What do I need to do with making this ini file? I do not remember making a file like this for previous level packs I made for Lemmini, but I know that I had one for them somehow, which means I need help starting from scratch. Currently I can make these levels using Lemmix, but I cant play/test my levels until I sort this problem out.

Levels for other engines / Re: Lemmini Level Pack Topic

I realise that this thread is almost six months old, and I apologise for that, but I noticed that Akseli had a try of some of my levels from my original level pack.

It looks like you had alot of dislikes (or neutral) reviews to many of the levels in the pack, and that is understandable. Almost half of the levels in my collection were not actually made by me, they were made by my friend. Our team in the old days was called 'Van Clan' hence the original pack name. However, this pack that you talked about here seems to be levels that I have made (I think I pretty much seperated my levels from the whole pack).

Again I utilised alot of builders in my levels, sometimes too much. Unfortunately I am not that good at making levels without builders or with very little of them, and I am better at making cosmetic and fun/easy levels. Large maps were easier to make than small levels because I guess I am not great at 'cramping' items into a small area to create a difficult but quick level, with a few exceptions. I also made some levels that were more comedy than anything else!

Overall, I just made a bunch of levels without too much thought because my standard of 'difficult' levels is nowhere near what most addicts are used to http://www.lemmingsforums.com/Smileys/lemmings/tongue.gif" alt=":P" title="Tongue" class="smiley" />

Also, I have a new location for all my levels I have ever made (including those made by my friend), now using the .lvl format, but you can easily turn the levels into Lemmini format. It is called FoxLems (the Van Clan name had been retired), so check it out http://www.lemmingsforums.com/Smileys/lemmings/smiley.gif" alt=":)" title="Smiley" class="smiley" />

Was just wondering lol. Besides the videos on my Youtube channel, I am not sure if anyone had downloaded my custom graphics sets to make levels with. My guess is nobody has, but also I dont even know if my sets are even usable to make levels with. Maybe I need a tester?

I am kind of in a varied state of gaming at this point. I have been wanting to play my xbox 360 lately, but I only have a few family members on my xbl friends list, and so it makes its a little hard to go at any games alone, especially during the day. I much prefer co-op games with friends. Roughly got 15-20 games on it since getting it a few months ago.

As for the PC, it is mainly World of Warcraft, but on occasion I might do something else, like Everquest 2. Up until recently I have been focusing on one or two games overall. Still not sure what to do though http://www.lemmingsforums.com/Smileys/lemmings/tongue.gif" alt=":P" title="Tongue" class="smiley" />

@Tim: if you'd like to contribute, send me some levels via PM. They can be any ones you choose. You're favorites, or like the one you mentioned. Try to pick your best looking, most fun, and levels that teach a new skill or technique are nice as well.

PM because I haven't made the topic yet. I am making the list and will upload it when I'm done making my nominations. If the list becomes much larger than 200 levels then a voting phase will commence (hopefully one a little more productive than the last one...) but if not we will use all ~180 levels that were selected!

Are you referring to the current level pack or a new one that is yet to be compiled? I am unsure which levels I will want to add, I dont remember how many of them look after all these years http://www.lemmingsforums.com/Smileys/lemmings/tongue.gif" alt=":P" title="Tongue" class="smiley" />

Can I ask if this project you are doing is simply lemmings with new tilesets, or a new type of lemmings? I have made two tilesets of my own under the existing lemmings structure (in Lemmini style), but I am unsure if you are only making your own ones or having more join in?

Hope that made any sense http://www.lemmingsforums.com/Smileys/lemmings/tongue.gif" alt=":P" title="Tongue" class="smiley" />

As I probably mentioned last time, I regret not being able to contribute to this awesome level pack! It sounds like it was a huge job with tons of contributors and a great team of people to produce it!

That being said, I would love to contribute to the next one. Most of my levels that I have re-released to the forum are Fun based levels, but I heard that they are needed. I am a fan of making cosmetic levels more than difficulty levels because (lets face it) I am not all that good at making those kinds of levels (despite the fact that it has been years since I last created levels). I know that I have levels in my collection that probably should not even exist, which brings me to my question of the day.

Exactly how would I contribute to the next levelpack? Would there be level testers/players that would vote on which levels they like in my collection and then add them to it? For example, I heard that one of my levels 'Fangorn Forest' was a favourite with some people. Would this be how it would work?

Okay, that was 3 questions, sorry http://www.lemmingsforums.com/Smileys/lemmings/tongue.gif" alt=":P" title="Tongue" class="smiley" />

This is the refurbished edition of what was known as 'Van Clan Lemmings'.

Pretty much the same levels as before, but with a brand new format. One file to download...tons of levels inside two folders! No longer will you be forced to download 20 different level packs or so, you can now choose which levels you want to play, and if you dont like certain levels, just delete them!

As part of my new format, any future levels that I make will simply be added to the list and I will re-upload the list with the latest levels. You may or may not see levels that you have not seen before, depending on if you have played all or some of my levels before. Some of these levels I will be deleting in the near future due to their messy format and/or boring gameplay, and the level amount will change accordingly. Perhaps I can get your help to flush out these 'unnecessary' levels?

As a final note on my opening 'speech', I would like to thank EricLang for helping me to retrieve Lemmix out of my messy collection and rework it to open all of my levels properly. I would also like to thank Namdia for speeding up the process of converting my levels into the new format. You saved me good time! http://www.lemmingsforums.com/Smileys/lemmings/smiley.gif" alt=":)" title="Smiley" class="smiley" />

The download of my new level pack should be attached to this post, I think http://www.lemmingsforums.com/Smileys/lemmings/tongue.gif" alt=":P" title="Tongue" class="smiley" />

Please enjoy!

Fortunately most of my levels were made using lemedit, so i am converting from DAT files to LVL format (all CustLemm style) and leaving the INI files alone. In face, i will delete them when the others are extracted. The only levels I have made for Lemmini use are my custom tilesets (Forest, Mario), which will be in a seperate location for obvious reasons.

This shouldnt take a long time http://www.lemmingsforums.com/Smileys/lemmings/smiley.gif" alt=":)" title="Smiley" class="smiley" />

I have found the way to extract my levels to LVL format, as well as INI format. However, I dont see how INI is really needed as it seems most people show/post their levels in LVL format anyway. DAT level packs also seem unnecessary as long as when someone posts a pack of levels, they use a zip file for it.

Basically I think I will just convert all levels I have to LVL format, put them in their own folder, then upload for everyone to grab. Seems to be the best way http://www.lemmingsforums.com/Smileys/lemmings/smiley.gif" alt=":)" title="Smiley" class="smiley" />

I have been in contact with EricLang, and he was a big help in getting access to my levels again! I can most likely get to every single level I have made, so I will be able to get them all out!

I must ask though, should they be only in seperate LVL format, or do I need to have DAT level packs as well? How should I do this?

Sounds good! I was going to work a little bit on it tonight but if those files arent ready, there may not be much point. I want to eventually have only one copy of my levels and the programs on my computer so that I dont need to keep searching for the right stuff!

Dont think i can do anything else tonight on it lol
