Lemmings Main / Re: The Lemmings The Ports Book
March 15, 2025, 05:44:05 PM
It's been a while since I've read this topic properly and I just noticed that jaycee had said that only 50 copies of the book were ever sold on the original run years back.
I own one of those 50 copies, I think it's a gloss cover and not a matte one.

It's nice to see that the PDF version is still being sold at a reduced price of £3 (it was £10 years ago). Yes there are some people who can send a copy of the PDF but I think it's also nice to support the creator of the book

I highly recommend that if you can, you download this book because it is like a Lemmings fan's "bible" so to speak! I remember bringing this book to the 2023 Leeds forums meetup and it was a big hit

Owning the book definitely has its advantages as opposed to the PDF, I definitely do not regret paying £35 for this book back in the day.

Congratulations to the top 3, especially Arty's level, that is one of the best levels I've played in a contest in a long time! Very fun to solve!

General Discussion / Re: General Comings and Goings
February 06, 2025, 09:54:55 PM
I've officially entered the house buying process now after house hunting since the start of the year.

My activity on the forums will be very low for the next few months most likely and will probably be a little longer until I get settled into my new dwelling.

Someone else should continue to arrange the Lix sessions for the time being like the one arranged about a week back.

I look forward to moving into an actual house after having my living situation in limbo for 10 years.

I've recorded the session while watching the stream back so no need to send me anything.

I'll upload it to Youtube when I get time to :)

There is no need for Simon to archive the recordings Silken because usually one of us gets it uploaded to Youtube one way or another

I should be able to play for the first hour. Brought my laptop to work with me

Well looks like it will be on 26th Jan. I won't be able to make it sadly. Have fun everyone and hopefully Simon will stream so I can watch the upload

Lix Main / Re: Flopsy level release request
December 18, 2024, 11:44:34 AM
I'm very busy at the moment with SuperLemmix projects. I'll try and find some time over the holidays to look at my Lix multiplayer levels.
The Mr Bean level still needs editing and testing once more in multiplayer before it's ready for release, I'm not happy with the way Lixes get stuck in the pillars.

Welcome to the community Barahir and thanks for trying Lix  :lix-cool:

If the multiplayer aspect of Lix is of any interest to you, we do have multiplayer sessions about once a month on average (there won't be a session this month though due to the festivities).

As Simon has said, it is best to experience the multiplayer with 1 other person first since it can take a bit of getting used to. We have an IRC channel where someone might be willing to play if you join and message the channel.

Quakenet IRC
(Just type your username and put #lix as the channel)

The next larger multiplayer session will most likely be sometime in January, there's usually 5-6 people there average (me and Simon are usually there!) and we play for about 2-3 hours playing various different maps. Anyone is welcome to join these sessions  :lix-evil:

I have also written a text guide to the Lix multiplayer with illustrations if you are interested in the multiplayer strategy theory. It has helped some people improve at the game recently from what I have seen since it was published  :lix-smile:

Finally solved Colorful Arty's level, this was an incredibly fun level to try, nice one Arty!

I liked the concept at the start where you had to sacrifice Lemmings zig zagging up to the bashable pipe, you had to be very precise here too and I had to use a little RR manipulation to get this.
It took me ages to figure out the digger bomber trick on the pipe to the lower left of the trapdoor. I must have spent nearly 2 hours on this level but it was satisfying to get and the fact that you had to time the digger towards the exit was a nice touch.
Also, the waterfall to the upper left of the level isn't placed correctly because Lemmings are able to walk by it. I did not exploit this in my solution though, it wasn't really useful in my opinion.

I did try also Icho's R1 level for a long time also but couldn't solve it, I absolutely despise the slider more than I hate gliders now! Thanks Icho   I think this is probably all I'm going to solve this contest.

Had a try at the contest levels this time and I found a surprising amount of them to be solvable this time, a grand total of FOUR which is quite good for me so I'm proud.

What I'm particular proud of is one of them is Crane's level, it is the first time I've solved one of Crane's contest levels and I'm 99% sure it is intended this time as well since I'm only falling short of the talisman time by 3 seconds.

Rule 1 I just didn't bother with because I don't really understand the new objects and I didn't have the patience to try and work out the levels with the new objects either so I skipped the rule entirely.

I solved Armani's and kaywhyn's R2 and I solved Crane's and kaywhyn's R3.

Feedback
R2
Caffeine Addiction (Armani) - highly certain this is intended and this solution is utterly brilliant, great use of the blockers and laserers in the level. I nearly didn't solve this because I had the blocker facing the wrong way on the middle section.

It's A Wet World (kaywhyn) - solved this rather fast but I did use all of the skills, I have used this blocker trick in one of my levels before so I was immediately onto the containment trick used here. It's a great blocker trick so thumbs up from the King of Blockers!

R3
Paradox (Crane) - spent the longest on this level but the solution was fun to try and carve out. I'm almost certain this is the intended solution. Also this is the first time I have solved one of your levels so I'm feeling accomplished on getting this!
Attached both of my solves, I tried to go for the talisman on my second attempt still fell short though!

To The CPU Terminal (kaywhyn) - initially tried to go diagonally up through the middle to the right but that was too builder intensive. Then I realised there was terrain outside the green walls and then it was a very easy solve after that. Props for the good choice of 3D Lemmings music too, I love this track!

This is because the author Amanda set the intended number of players to 1 in the editor. If this happens, check the level file itself and check if "Intended number of players" is set to 1.

You can always just change this number to a value other than 1 as a temporary fix.

NeoLemmix Levels / Re: Holiday Lemmings 2024

Suggestion, maybe give players a choice to download the DOS sounds separately rather than bundle it into the download.
I've just had to restore all of my sounds to the default sounds as well as my custom success and failure jingles after the download overwritten all of the sound files with the DOS sounds and default NL sounds.  :forehead:

Most of the time the sessions are done between 8.30pm and 9pm UTC, it depends on how many people show up though. Lower turnouts result in shorter sessions.

I highly encourage people to join the session even if it has already started or it has been in progress for a long time, you don't need to be there from the start   :lix-wink:

Just a reminder that we are still playing Lix this Sunday  :lix-smile:

I don't know where to post this but in some levels of the World Tour for Superlemmix, the Exit is not on the ground but hovering in the air so that the lemmings can't get in. Like in World Tour Level: 1, 6, 8 (what I just saw until now).

I saw that the conversion is difficult, but is there anything you can do to put the exits correctly?

... an some minutes later I opened the level editor for the first time :). Indeed you can put down on the ground the exits. When I as a beginner only do this an choose "Save" is there anything else that I should be aware of or possibly can break in the level? I hope and guess, not.

I'm guessing that levels 1, 6 and 8 are in either the Brick or Rock tileset. If so, I posted about this earlier in the topic and Will/namida replied about it.

The conversion for Lemmings World Tour to SuperLemmix wasn't done by Strato Incendus himself so it's not an official conversion.

You should probably post your findings in the pack topic itself
https://www.lemmingsforums.net/index.php?topic=6552.0

There is a lot that is different ever so slightly between NL and SLX as I've found this week trying to convert SEB Lems, Modular Lems and MegSEGAbytes to SLX.
None of the packs are ready yet because there is a lot of stuff to check.
