Fan Corner / Lemmings-inspired levels in Super Mario Maker
September 17, 2015, 07:09:47 AM
Hey, long time since I've posted here. Anyway, as the title says, Lemmings-inspired levels in Super Mario Maker!

I've made one, and I'd love to see any if you guys have made some (or will make some).

Mine is: A TASK FOR BLOCKS AND BOB-OMBS
It's based on Fun 1-5
FFF7-0000-0054-1A85

Please try it out (and Star it if you like it), and share your SMM level ID codes!

Here, I will maintain links to useful tools for editing Sega Master System's Lemmings on a system not running Microsoft Windows. This include's Pooty's Lemmings Level Converter tool.

All downloads are in the attachments for this post.

Mac OS XRequires an Intel Mac, 10.5.8 to 10.7
Version 1.0.

Other versions to come.

I would consider converting the track from MIDI to MOD, for several reasons.
  • If you have Linux, and many of our members do, MIDI is tricky to set up and so won't play anyway
  • Depending on your samples, MOD tracks sound vastly superior
  • MOD support is present in other custom Lemmings games (Cheapo)

Lix Levels / Re: Re: Lix/L++ Custom Levels

The Lix movement looks a bit wooden, like Mike's original Lemmings look more wooden than the ones that made it in to Lemmings. I just noticed because I was watching the video Mike linked to the other day.

It's a pity that the camera didn't show any of the presentation slides, but nevermind. Nice story to listen to, even if most of the details we were already intimately familiar with, being complete and utter Lemmings nerds! http://www.lemmingsforums.com/Smileys/lemmings/laugh.gif" alt=":D" title="Laugh" class="smiley" />

Blah blah blah blah http://google.com"" class="bbc_link" target="_blank">blah blah blah

Stands out fine to me, though maybe link hover colour should be red like the forum software's links.

Code: [Select]
a:hover {
    color: #dd0000;
}

I'm happy the underlined text is gone. It's so 1990s. This is 2011. Underline on hover's been standard for how many years? http://www.lemmingsforums.com/Smileys/lemmings/laugh.gif" alt=":D" title="Laugh" class="smiley" />

The guest issue is weird. It was commented on yesterday.

For the repeating background, all you need is the css property
Code: [Select]
background-repeat: repeat-x for the
Code: [Select]
body element. To that end, the graphic needs to only be one pixel wide as well in order to avoid sending wasteful amounts of data.

Non-Lemmings Gaming / Re: Odd language in POKéMON

I'd say that's true. There's always a consumer watchdog who is unhappy about some depiction of something or other.

Mind you, gambling? Really? That's the biggest problem in a game where animals fight each other for the benefit of their owners' egos? lol, Europe. Just lol. http://www.lemmingsforums.com/Smileys/lemmings/laugh.gif" alt=":D" title="Laugh" class="smiley" />

Non-Lemmings Gaming / Odd language in POKéMON
April 19, 2011, 08:37:28 AM
Way back in Pokémon Red/Blue/Yellow, when a trainer ran out of Pokémon in a fight, it would say...

Code: [Select]
RED is out of usable POKéMON!
...
RED blacked out!

Then in Gold/Silver/Crystal, it changed to...

Code: [Select]
GOLD is out of usable POKéMON!
...
GOLD ///whited/// out!
(Emphasis added)

I mean ... blacking out is the more usual phrase for that kind of event - fainting. So ... any idea why it changed? I think in more recent games, it returned to being blacking out.

I just wondered if it had anything to do with the JINX controversy.

After ONML. ONML came out only a year after the original. Dolly Dimple is an ONML level with the brick style. I'd be interested to see this pipe style version. http://www.lemmingsforums.com/Smileys/lemmings/tongue.gif" alt=":P" title="Tongue" class="smiley" />

Nice http://www.lemmingsforums.com/Smileys/lemmings/smiley.gif" alt=":)" title="Smiley" class="smiley" />

My trouble was that I got stuck trying to remember the DOS levels, since I could only remember the SEGA Master System levels - and because of that, I got a mental block. Then I remembered about 20 more in the last couple of minutes. http://www.lemmingsforums.com/Smileys/lemmings/laugh.gif" alt=":D" title="Laugh" class="smiley" />
