Title: Lemmings is a bit too gory isn't it?
Post by: Basherlemming on October 05, 2008, 03:56:44 PM
I mean there are really gory traps like the bearclaw which cuts there head off and crushes their body and the "tomato ketchup machine" in oh no more lemmings.
Seeing the traps has made me lose a bit of respect for lemmings, but it still remains my favourite game of all time.So what do you think about the traps? :huh2:

What do you expect?  Look at a lot of DMA's other games.  If anything, next to those Lemmings is rather docile (although I don't really like the rock trap in the dirt set).

Too gory? Excellent then!

Mwahahaaaa...

Seriously, it's not that gory. In fact, it's kinda humorous.

I didn't realize that your avatar was actually an animation from the game until just recently. I always used to play Lemmings 3 on kid mode (because I was a kid  :)). Probably just as well - I could have been put off the game for quite some time otherwise...

I like some of the traps in Lemmings 2. IMHO they are way funnier than the ones in the original game. Killer flowers? Tennis balls? That's just hilarious . (And the shellfish of course ;))

I played Chronicles but never saw Mindless' avatar in it... is it happens when you quit the game?

I agree with Clam Spammer, the L2 traps are far more humourous and the interesting thing is that there is no gore at all in it. But they was irritating, because without a manual you can't ever imagine that they are traps (bees are harmless, frogs are not, and Walkers are really really not  :) )

No, that's what happens when the lemmings meet a girl lemming (these don't appear unless you play on Adult mode, and then only show up in a few levels). They fall in love, walk around for a bit and then kill themselves. It's good to know they're equipped for suicide, if nothing else

n,m...
So close and yet so far :P
It wasn't a misreading, forgive me.

(Off mode off)

I see now why this harakiri event never happened with me... girl lemmings were such an easy target  :)

That bloody avatar is worse than anything I'VE seem in a lemmings game. Probably 'cause of the zoom on that avatar...

Lemmings isn't meant to be a completely cartoonish game. Just look at the tileset with a great big devil pig in it with a level that's made of a giant "666". It justifies the electrocution, weights, rocks, and ... the best one, bombers! :D

Oh yeah, though I hear "All the Sixes" was originally going to be a 777 level or something.  Apparently they couldn't make 77% of 77, so they didn't do it. (http://www.henriwatson.com/sites/zach/lemmings/Smileys/lemmings/XD.gif)

That seems unlikely.

60/77 = 77.92%, which rounds down (as is always the case in Lemmings) to 77%.

On the other hand, lemmings couldn't walk around inside a 7 like they can in a 6 - they'd fall out.

Idiotic internet smarty pantses.  You'd think Mr. K would know better.
