This October, I'll visit the UK.
I'll be up for a forum meetup on Saturday, October 26th, 2024 around the area of Manchester or Leeds.
There is nothing specific planned yet for that Saturday, October 26th. I'm staying with WillLem. I expect WillLem or Flopsy to pipe up here soon, but I'm sure others from the UK have good ideas, too. Where should we meet? One loose idea is to meet in Leeds where the UK forumers met in August 2023 (https://www.lemmingsforums.net/index.php?topic=6452.msg100100#msg100100); after all, many of you had the chance to come together there.
I have the Sunday, October 27th, free, too, and will fly back to Germany on the following Monday. I believe the Saturday is easier for whoever can spend only a single day, therefore I'm proposing to meet on Saturday and keep the Sunday as an optional second day.
Edit after Flopsy's 1st reply: Reason for why I am in the UK in the first place: WillLem, Flopsy, and I will take a road trip to Dundee, to see the Lemmings statue and the DMA office. The meetup on Sat, Oct 26th is after we return; we'll then be back in the Manchester/Leeds area.

Been looking forward to the day Simon finally comes to the UK to meet up with us since he teased it last year when we had the last meetup! :lix-mouth:
I suggested to Simon that using the same meetup place (Leeds) as last time would be easier for those who came to the last meetup to be able to come again. I also suggested that due to a large amount of people coming to Leeds on the train, that Saturday 26th Oct would be preferable to Sunday 27th Oct for that reason.
So if we follow the same format as the previous meetup, we'll be meeting up at Leeds Train Station again most likely (we met up around 11am last time, gives people time to travel).
Props to WillLem for accomodating Simon as well. It's going to be a great week!
Should probably add that myself, Simon and WillLem (possibly Lucia as well) are also taking a trip to Dundee (and the Lemmings statues) during the week leading up to the weekend of this meetup. The meetup is planned for the days after we return from this trip.
Most importantly, who is interested in meeting up with me, WillLem and Simon on Sat 26th Oct?
We're also open to other suggestions :thumbsup:

Ok so to update, we have 6 of us confirmed for Saturday 26th October.

If we follow the same meetup time as last time, it would be around 11-11:30am in the Leeds train station concourse outside WHSmith. I'll be coming on the train myself this time but I'm aiming to get there a lot earlier than that time.
Simon and WillLem will be driving from Manchester direction and will meet us there.
In terms of activities if we follow the same format, we'll probably get some food first then look around Leeds. See where the day takes us.
Additional proposal now for Sunday 27th October:
Myself, WillLem and Simon would be open to meeting up on Sunday 27th October also, Simon flies back to Germany on Monday 28th October so we have another day to plan.
We can meet up in Leeds again on Sunday if there's enough interest to do so. I'll be staying overnight on Saturday anyway so I'll be in the area already.
This day is not confirmed yet, we'll see how much interest there is first.
To add to Flopsy's post: the second day could be a meetup in Manchester or another place close to Leeds, or even somewhere completely different if people don't mind travelling - I'd suggest Liverpool as it's a fantastic city with plenty to see and do.
I will have done a lot of driving that week so North of England somewhere near Manchester/Leeds/Liverpool would be best for me.
I'd be interested in a Sunday meetup as well. Leeds/Manchester/Liverpool all sound good to me :)

This meeting will start as described in Flopsy's most recent post: At 11:00 to 11:30 in the Leeds train station concourse outside WHSmith. Flopsy will be there even earlier in Leeds earlier, and will be at the train station at 11:00 to catch everybody.

This doesn't have a time yet, not even a city. I'm hard-pressed to suggest something particular because I don't know where exactly everybody lives. Theoretically, we can plan this Sunday meeting on short notice during the Saturday meeting -- if everybody is flexible, but we're talking about distances of 50 km or 100 km between Leeds/Manchester/Liverpool. And maybe ∫tan x dx arrives by train and prefers to book tickets in advance?

Well when I say I'm going to be in Leeds even earlier, I probably won't appear at the train station meetup point until about 11, we've all met up before anyway so we should know who is who this time. Not like last time where everyone was looking for my Lemming plush ;P
Regarding Sunday, I'll be staying overnight in the Bradford/Leeds area on Fri and Sat night: meaning tanxdx could always ride with me in my car to wherever we decide to go, if we decide to do something.
I don't mind, I'd need to go back Leeds direction anyway to get back to Nottingham. I'd also be willing to pick up other people around this area if transport to the destination was something preventing them from joining us.

That is correct. I don't have access to a car for travelling, so I like to plan ahead :)

Hmm, I'm actually in Huddersfield on the Friday night...so I could pop up to Leeds on Saturday and join in again.
I will however be rolling in between 7-8am with no sleep (having been up all night playing laser tag at an annual event) so I will probably look like a lemming :lemming: :lemming: :lemming:

Ah nice, I used to attend events like that when I was much younger, there used to be an annual all nighter at the Laserquest in Nottingham around Halloween, you might even have been at one of those and I didn't realise!

Great, we still don't know what is happening on this day and it's looking likely we'll probably decide on the day of the meetup on Saturday.

Myself, Simon and Will arrived in Dundee yesterday to visit the Lemmings statues and to do some sightseeing ahead of the meet up this Saturday in Leeds.

The Dundee trip was a separate thing to this meet up and something myself, Will and Simon arranged as something else to do during his stay in the UK. :thumbsup:

Hi all, looking forward to seeing everybody tomorrow!
There are 2 gaming bars in Leeds (Pixel and NQ64) that are both open from 12 noon onwards, so they're probably good places for us to go at some point.
It would be good to go for something to eat as soon as everybody has arrived, so that we can relax, converse, and fill our tummies before heading into Leeds.
Simon, Carrie and I will be travelling together. I anticipate being there around 12-12:30, hope that's OK with everyone. By all means keep the 11:00-11:30 meet-up time, but please do wait for us before heading anywhere to eat!
