When playing Lemmings 2 in-game, pressing the Escape key only restarts the level.
How do you return to the menu or quit to DOS from in-game? What buttons need to be pressed?
To exit a level, nuke.
Double-click the nuke icon at the right. I don't know a keyboard shortcut for the nuke; neither F12 (from L1) or Alt+Q (from L3D) work.

Thanks for clarifying. The Lemmings 2 manual does not specify that at all, which is why I created this thread.
On a related note: In the Amiga emulated version, pressing escape to restart the level doesn't seem to work. Or does anybody know how to accomplish this in the Amiga version with some other key? Because always having to nuke whenever one tiny bit goes wrong is pretty annoying, especially in a game with as much execution difficulty as Lemmings 2...

These are the Amiga controls for L2, according to the Lemon Amiga website (https://www.lemonamiga.com/games/docs.php?id=995). Pressing [Esc] does indeed restart the level (I'm playing via the Amiga Forever emulator).

I prefer to play Lemmings 2 in dosbox. Then I can hit ctrl+f9 to shut it off immediately.
(if you're using my portable version of lemmings 2 for windows this can cause your last save to be lost though.)
For me the dos version is better. I can open level files in text editors and do things alien to me in the Amiga version. And I'm a dos pc guy since the early 80s.
Thanks, WillLem! ;) Then I might have a different version, and/or a different Amiga emulator.
