Another oldie revived. I'll reiterate the rules for the new folks:
1. The person who guesses the game correctly can either submit their own, or if they can't be arsed, nominate another person (assuming they want to)
2. Any media relating to the game, whether that be screenshots, videos, audio files etc. can be used - if it's an audio or video file, though, keep a reasonable filesize; for audio, I'd recommend a monaural MP3 file with a bitrate of 24kb/s or thereabouts, and for video, a 320x240 150kb/s monaural WMV, MPEG or AVI file should be okay. Length for either should be kept to a minute maximum.
Anyhow, on with the show...
The first game, with a soundtrack which should go down as one of the best ever. (http://www.ldine91.freeserve.co.uk/misc/Game.mp3)
And no, it's not listed in my "Other Games" list ;P
It doesn't work for me.
Funny, it's just a normal MP3... Windows Media Player 7 upwards or Winamp should handle it no problem.
what game is it from. :???: :???: :???:........oh yeah...guess the game... >:(
Well, seeing as how nobody knows it (hell, nobody even attempted, you lazy people >=/), I may as well post the answer: it was Konami's Sparkster, released for the SNES in 1994.
Next one, this should hopefully be a lot easier. (http://www.ldine91.freeserve.co.uk/misc/Game.JPG) It's another Konami SNES game, by the way.
EDIT: And ignore the "59/60" at the bottom, that's just the emulator's framerate counter.
Contra III - The Alien wars! :D
Ah, that explains it. I have an outdated version of that and I've never bothered to upgrade it, since times like this are the only times I ever use the thing.
And I have no idea about the second one, except that it sounds like Andi is right to me.
Quote from: Andi link=1089574076/0#5 date=1089827068Contra III - The Alien wars! :D
Correct, even though I already told you over MSN :D
Now what's that (http://people.freenet.de/lemmings/misc/game.png)?
I had to censor it, because then it would be too easy. ;P
Spiderman or something? I have no idea.
My guess is an X-Men game of some kind, judging by the dude on the left... give us a couple of hints =P
Maybe some sort of 'superhero showdown' thing?
It has a bit of spiderman, a bit of superheroshowdownthing and the world's famost hedgehog is part of the name.
Well, that would be Sonic, right? Unfortunately, I still don't know what it is :P
Sonic Blastman?
G3K is almost right. It is Sonic Blastman 2. So it's now your turn.
Have a stab at this one. (http://www.ldine91.freeserve.co.uk/misc/Game.JPG)
I'd say some kind of Sonic game...
Is that a rabbit or something? Ehr... maybe I'll figure it out in a while.
Lemeri> Nope, however Sonic Team was the reason this game didn't get the exposure it deserved.
L'K> Again, nope, not a rabbit =P
True, it seems to have a tail. Unfortunately, I'm drawing a complete blank on what else it could be right now.
Could be a mouse. Is it a sonic clone?
Nope, not a clone, completely different game.
Okay, so it may or may not be a mouse, it has a jetpack, and you seem to need to find crystals.
Urg. I have no clue. Well, actually, I probably have several clues - I'm just putting them together wrong.
Okay, seeing as how nobody's getting that one... it's Sparkster 2 : Rocket Knight Adventures, released by Konami in 1994 for the Sega Megadrive. And just to clear up the species argument, Sparkster is an Australian possum.
Anyway, new game, and this time it's a Sega Megadrive release title... this lad was Sega's mascot before Sonic showed up. Here's the pic. (http://www.ldine91.freeserve.co.uk/misc/Game.JPG)
Is it that vampire-thing? Or was that not even Sega?
...vampire? XD
Well, yeah, it's the little dude in the red with the mullet.
Another hint: His initials are AK.
So it's not the vampire. Garn, I have no idea...
AK? Hm... AK-47. XD
Maybe his name is Achmed Kalashnikov or so. Anyway this game looks really weird. :P
I'm stumped.
i can't get to the picture. links aren't working on my computer or something.
!!!!!!!WT........... O_O That's.......an odd game.
what's the game about?
A game description taken from MobyGames...
A*** K***, resident of planet Aries, is the brother to the king. One day he comes across a rumor that his long lost father, King Thor, is alive and somewhere on the planet Paperock.
Now Paperock is a place where you have to be good at the game of 'Paper, Rock and Scissors' to get anywhere. With that knowledge you must take control of A***, guide him through the odd natured, unfriendly planet and help him find his father.
It's a side-scrolling platformer, like Mario.
It sounds kinda stupid, but I still down't know.
Seeing as how absolutely nobody is getting it... Alex Kidd And The Enchanted Castle, released in 1989 for the Sega Megadrive. Moving on, and it's a Master System game now.
Here it is. (http://www.ldine91.freeserve.co.uk/misc/Game.JPG)
Hm. The guy in the mi9ddle of the screen rememinds me to Banjo-Kazooi (or however it is spelled). But I know that's not the name. XD
Well, it looks kinda like a fox, so I guess it could be Starfox.
Correct, it is a fox, but it's not Starfox.
Well, I got kind of close.
The only Starfoxes I know of are for SNES, N64 (Now THAT version RULES ALL!!!), and Gamecube (Heard that one sucked).
i got starfox snes and it's actually pretty good.
(starfox 64 rules all)
None of this has to do with guessing the game.
omg u ppl liek suk at thiz :<
That was Psycho Fox for the Sega Master System.
Someone should at LEAST be able to get the character. (http://www.ldine91.freeserve.co.uk/misc/Game.JPG)
Seeing as how nobody's going to bother their arse even TRYING, I'm going to make the next one obvious as possible. The last one was Megaman VII for SNES.
Which game's had its music buggered thanks to incorrect emulation? (http://www.ldine91.freeserve.co.uk/misc/Game.mp3)
Hm, the one above I must have overred, :???: I can't remember that post.
The mp3,... is it one of the kirby games?
Nope, not a Kirby game; it's for the Megadrive.
Lemmings for the megadrive? :D
I can't get the music clip. It says one or more files are missing.
Funny, I can access it just fine... you might be missing a codec or something, try getting Winamp.
Hm, what kind of game is it?
Platformer.
:EDIT: Remember, since I've modified the sound emulation, it'll sound a bit different in the actual game.
Rainbow Islands?
Nope, although that is a pretty damn good game in its own right from what I've heard.
:EDIT: I'd give you a hint... but that'd make it too obvious. Hell, that last sentence might've even given it away!
:EDIT 2: Quick puzzle time, folks! Mario is to Nintendo what OMGWTFBBQ is to Sega.
Sonic Pinball? (it just flew into my mind.)
//edit1: Argh! Sonic Pinball is no platform game! Is it a Sonic game?
//edit 2: Wait! It could be Sonic 3 and Knuckles and the music is from the Egyptian Theme!
//edit 3: But Sonic is no puzzle game. X_X
You've got the right idea, but nope, it's not Spinball, 3 or Knuckles.
I think this topic should be moved to the Other Games board, because it's a games topic.
Yep, it should ^_^
Okay, I've concluded that you people are rubbish at this o_o
Anyway, on with the next one.
Keep listening to the end and you may recognise it as the soundtrack to a certain famous DisasterLabs Flash. (http://www.ldine91.freeserve.co.uk/misc/Game.mp3)
Arfenhouse 2?
Right movie, but what's the game it's from?
Hint: Capcom.
Is Mega-Man from Capcom?
Yep... it's close enough, so I'll give you it; Megaman 2, specifically.
I've got one, (Andi, you may intervene at any time during this guess because you really did get the last one.) A0; A0; A0; A0; A0; A0; A0; quote "once i am finished with you, the seal will open between the two worlds." unquote,
Guess what game that's from. HINT:Chain link
(the quote may be a bit off) it's either dark world and light world, or the two worlds.
Metroid Prime 2: Echoes?
nope.
If you knew the answer then you would know why that seems like a really wierd answer.
Ax, your quote was off enough to make the answer more hidden. It was: The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.
Here's a game descript. Guess from this.
This 1989 game pits a good god against an evil one. You must level land for your people to settle on and destroy your opponent's people. You can use spells such as swamp, knight, volcano, earthquake, flood, and armageddon. Each side has a unit called a priest, who lets you do things on the map even though you are not there (you are playing a god, so you aren't there). Only the priest can be directly controlled.
hint: think D.angerously M.orose A.ugers.

Uh... It sounds sorta like one of the early Populous games, but I don't have any idea.
Wow. Okay, Lemeri, it was THE Populous. Your turn I guess.
