This level is now complete. Read Reply #21 (http://www.lemmingsforums.net/index.php?topic=2948.msg61408#msg61408) for more information.Old Post
Decided to put this topic in Lemmings Discussion for now since it isn't a Level Pack, nor is it a Level Design Theory.
It has been over three months since we all did a collaboration: Spires of Mire (http://www.lemmingsforums.net/index.php?topic=2761.0).
Now that we are fresh with the NeoLemmix v1.47 update and every tool has had a stable release, what do people think of doing another collab?
I will need at least two to three people if you want to join. Once I get enough, I will start on a level. As usual, anyone is welcome to jump in during the collaboration phase. The rules will be the same as the previous collab.
Sign-Up List:
Flopsy
BulletRide
möbius
Dullstar (maybe) - decoration only
Count me in as always Wafflem, perhaps put me later in the line this time though
Im in!
sign me up!
[please PM me when it's my turn in case I forget to check]
I'll have to pass one this one. My homework load skyrocketed today, plus I'm busy enough with other lemmings stuff. I will play the completed level on my stream though!
Depending on what tileset you end up using I might be interested in decorating/touching up the appearance of the level a bit (any L1/ONML/L2 tileset is fine; for customs it depends - I've used Gronkling's Cyber tileset before so I know I can make things work with that one; haven't messed much with others so I'd want to look at them before committing). I'm a bit bad at making/solving difficult stuff though so I probably won't mess with the puzzle any.
Wafflem has left me in charge of this collaboration project, he's had to duck off the forums for a while for certain reasons.
He has sent me the level we're going to use though.
I can confirm it is a Honeycomb level so if you don't want to work on this level and back out then that is absolutely fine.
I'll wait a few more days before starting to see if we have anymore people signing up, people can sign up while the project is underway as well, you'll just join the end of the queue before Dullstar.
The order will be as follows:
Bulletride
mobius
Flopsy
Dullstar (decoration only)
If anyone needs a copy of the Honeycomb set, if you're using NeoLemmix Editor V1.47n (or a more-recent experimental) then you can obtain it simply by going to Tools > Download Graphic Sets, and look for "lpv_honeycomb" in the list.
Sadly I cannot ensure I will have the time in Oktober, so I gotta pass this one. :(
I write an exam in the first half of and in the 2nd half I have my operation in hamburg which will hopefully solve my eating problems.
But I will check out the end result for sure! ;)
I didn't post the original level and solution in this topic so here it is
Bulletride has finished his part of the collab project, he PM'd the level to me so I'm posting it on his behalf.
"Here is the level I made. I Moved his top section closer to the empty honeycombs to save a few builders as well as added steel by the entrance."
mobius, you're up
make sure you download this attachment and not the one in the post above.
wait Bullet ride said he moved something, so he wasn't first? Did you start it Flopsy?
Anyways, this is going to be hard; at first glance it already looks like a complete level. But I haven't played it yet. :P
ya I went second I think Wafflem started it. I am not sure how much I was supposed to add so if I did too much I can scale it back a bit!
Edit: I have attached a V2 of my level that should leave a bit more room for development. Went a bit overboard the first time I think 8-). Use whatever version you prefer.
Wafflem sent me the level, I haven't had my turn yet. Bulletride went first.
yay, I managed to make a successful (imo) contribution! I didn't alter the level's appearance very much but made a different solution, which is probably easier than BulletRide's because I could've solve it before! And probably fraught with backroutes. Next person can fix that :P Also the next person can completely change my solution or contribution since it may be a little messy, although even though done sort of quickly I was a little proud of how it turned out. (My solution is attached)
I reduced the size of the level only to make it look nice; you can make it larger again.
And I couldn't find anything about the rules so I assumed the rules are the same as since the last time I did the collab thing.
In case I forget to check, I'd appreciate if whoever's before me in the queue (appears to be Flopsy currently, as long as no one else jumps in) could PM me when it's my turn.
I'm deciding to pass on my turn.
I've been really busy this week and haven't even noticed that mobius had finished his part.
I don't think I'm going to get any less busy anytime soon so I'll pass my turn and let Dullstar go instead.
Sorry about that guys :(
I'll go after Dullstar then. I'll have time to get the level done. I'll probably be the last one to apply the finishing touches to the level, including title and music (unless Dullstar or anyone else wants to do music and title).
I was originally going to only make visual changes, but I modified the solution, mainly because I thought the climbable wall looked weird; so I changed the beginning part of the solution to use a different method of scaling the wall. The second half of the solution is different than Mobius's replay, but still works in that version.
Changelog:
- Minor visual touchup on ropelike honey structure
- Increased Level Size
- Replaced rightmost Single-Use Trap with a fall that eventually leads into water (since lemmings would still die if they passed the trap after activation, just from the side of the level instead of the trap)
- Added a small amount of decoration
- Replaced climbers with swimmers
- Introduced crowd control
- Minor changes to skill quantity to accommodate the change from climbers to swimmers
- Increased size of the spawning platform to reduce the precision of the crowd control
Thanks! This looks good (though I haven't seen the replay yet)!
Since I'm the last one who will be doing this, it will take me a while.
Just want to let everyone know that I haven't abandoned this project. I've started working on it, and the final product might look somewhat bigger than expected. I will still aim to keep the spirit of the solution.
Alright. Here is Colonial Collaboration!
This is now in its final state. It is harder, and I've used Dullstar's replay as a guide on how to keep the spirit of the solution.
Changes:
-Added author: Waffbullmobidull
-Added title
-Changed save requirement to 35/40
-Changed release rate to 30
-Added some bees (made sure to not add too many)
-Added new terrain on the left side of the level, moved hatch to that area.
-Modified the portion with the one-way arrow wall by adding water on top. Now you need a swimmer.
-Added some more diagonal honey walls.
-Changed one of the hollow honeycombs into solid honeycomb (at the upper-right portion with all the hollowcombs)
-Modified the right side of the level by adding more honeycombs and single-use traps to adjust to the new solution.
-HOTFIX: removed floating steel hexagon
These are all the changes I can think of. I can't think of any music I want to use, though I'm considering either of the following:
-Emerald Hill 2-Player (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z99fLBRH9j8) from Sonic 2
-Isolated Island OC Remix (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uwd0ourku0U) from Knuckles Chaotix
-Classic 3 (PC Version) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDqlsNMAFsA) from Lemmings Chronicles - I'm liking this one the most.
-Any other suggestions are more than welcome! Anyone (even those who have not participated) can suggest!
Wow great job on this level Wafflem, this is much better than what I could have produced.
Very impressed with the resulting solution. I feel like it's inspired me again :)
Regarding the music, Emerald Hill seemed like the best fit with me.
Thanks, Flopsy!
Also, just made a hotfix to the level that removes a floating steel piece, which can be a cause for a potential backroute. Download in same post.
I'll still have to figure out the music.
Nice level, but not too hard. Here my solution saving one lemming more than required.
Thanks!
Sounds like a backroute as you were supposed to save the exact number of lemmings. Will check it out when I can, as I've got some other projects going on ATM.
Okay, I just checked your replay, and it is indeed a backroute (though you got around 60% of the solution). Some of these should be fixed easily. I'll figure it out within the next few days.
In the meanwhile, I've submitted this level to Arty; I'd rather wait until I see how many backroutes this level gets before changing anything.
