Hi friends!
I'm thinking of doing a Let's Play with commentary on Youtube of a custom Lemmings levelpack. Any suggestions which one I should play or which ones you would be interested in seeing me play? Right now, I'm contemplating either Reverse Lemmings (my own creation) or Pimolems (which I have beaten). Please let me know what pack you want me to play if any, but keep in mind if I'm going in blind, I don't want to play a pack that is insanely difficult (it would take me months to beat it if so, and/or I will have to look up solutions).
If you already gone through PimoLems, my NeoLemmix conversion should be a good pick as it should fix some backroutes and other problems.
Also the feedback would be much appreciated! Finding some more backroutes and mistakes is always good.
+ I added 2 more special levels from Lemmings Reunion in the Special rank. Reunion itself should be too hard for now ;)
Generally to get into NeoLemmix the "NeoLemmix Introduction Pack" is also a very good pick!
Remember that PimoLems is a very hard pack, there are definitely harder ones such as Lemmings Reunion, though there are also much easier ones. There's the neolemmix introduction pack (though this still isnt just a walk in the park). I believe gigalems, geofflems and possibly certain lemmings plus packs are easier too, though I don't know as I haven't played them myself. Pimolems is a very good pack however, so if you think you're up to the challenge you can go for it!
If you beat PimoLems; you shouldn't be too intimidated by other packs imo PimoLems is quite hard!
DoveLems is comparable to PimoLems in difficult I think and also very good. DoveLems is only on Lemmini at the moment.
Goofflems is also a great pack which I've only played partly but I've seen it all through namida's videos and it is quite good.
There's also my pack which isn't the hardest pack but it's gotten two video series already so I'm no longer hungry for feedback, I've gotten quite a lot. [Thank you!:thumbsup: ]
Insansely difficult packs: NepsterLems, Akseli's small pack :P
It might be worth looking through these channels, to see what's already been done:
namida (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCp6auxhOVP14und7CXEA5gw)
Flopsy86 (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC0JAwKyW340QFfSzdmv8Ljg)
roundthewheel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUNeNCNDTvYKUY9HAe9uLbQ)
I mean, there's nothing wrong with LPing the same pack, as you will have different perspectives and probably find some different solutions, but you might want to pick something that hasn't been done yet. Then again, namida and Flopsy seem to be intent on playing through all the big NeoLemmix packs, so you'll likely end up crossing paths sooner or later.
Hi Colorful Arty
Some of the bigger packs I really like are Martin Zurlinden pack which you can get on the mindless website. Those levels are very tricky puzzle wise but they are also a lot of fun I thought. :) There's one level where you have to hunt for the exit and I hear many people who have tried it may of got stuck for a while on it.
Here's part one of his pack.

I quite liked Anatol's pack. It has 10 levels with some of the levels not as simple as it looks. I remember having a lot of tries on one of the levels. :) I may of glitched the bubbles level but then again maybe the intended solution.

Old Lemmini pack you could try my one.
You might like one of my very very small level pack where each level is a new puzzle of a level you have probably played in the past. I don't think it's too difficult as I was just getting used to using the editor

Yeah Pimolems is a very hard pack but very good. I remember being stuck on the warehouse level for ages not knowing what to do so I decided to turn to a walkthrough. I try and make it that the walkthrough is my last resort. :) :) :) :)
Aside from my own packs (the Lemmings Plus series and Doomsday Lemmings), I would highly recommend GeoffLems and Lemmings Reunion. Do be aware that the latter is very hard; I would strongly advise getting the NeoLemmix version, not only because it's more up-to-date, but also because the pack is hard enough even with the fine-control features NeoLemmix has; trying to play it without them in Lemmini would be a total nightmare. I've also heard very good things about NepsterLems (again though, this includes "the difficulty is insane"), but haven't got around to properly playing it myself yet.
I would advise playing the NeoLemmix Introduction Pack before getting too much into NeoLemmix content. Those that are from the early days of NeoLemmix, or converted from other engines, you'll generally be fine without playing the introduction pack first (the only significant difference you're likely to notice in such cases is that bombers don't have a countdown), but I would recommend playing it before playing the more recent and made-for-NeoLemmix packs (such as Lemmings Plus Omega / IV or MobiLems II). Don't worry too much about the Gimmicks rank; gimmicks are being removed in the near future.

oh I forgot: yes, MazuLems would be an excellent choice. Hasn't a NeoLemmix pack been made for his pack yet? I seem to recall it has. there are only about 30 levels, so you may consider it more manageable than a big pack.
several of his level are in "Revenge of the Lemmings" which btw, is another possible choice but this pack is very large and begins easy but gets very hard. Also it is currently being worked on so probably not the best choice right now.
Clam's Lix pack. >_>
Clam designs excellent levels. He hasn't yet received the due spotlighting.

Thank you all for your suggestions and input! :)
I have decided after some deliberation to play PimoLems on NeoLemmix! I will be recording later this afternoon, and hopefully the first video will be up tonight! :D
But if you've beaten it before, won't you remember a big part of the solutions?
My current plans are to slowly work through the Lemmings Plus series and breaking it up with a level pack from someone else inbetween so as of right now, I haven't got anything on the radar for between Lemmings Plus II and Lemmings Plus III.
Suggestions are welcome on this given that I've already played Gigalems and I am nowhere near attempting packs as hard as Nepsterlems or Lemmings Reunion.
Geofflems is a possible choice but I'm open to other suggestions also. Is Pimolems a suitable choice for me does anyone think (from anyone who has watched my videos)?
My side projects (which are all official games) are sorted for now, I'm doing L2 Tribes (Genesis) currently, then I might do Genesis Lemmings (by popular demand), then Lemmings Revolution if I have the game working by then.
My advice is just start with a pack which you're comfortable with. I started with the Neo Lemmix Introduction Pack then moved on to Lemmings Plus I. Don't burn yourself out with too many hard packs in a row. Make sure after playing something hard, you fall back on something a little easier.
The reason I have the side projects going is so I have something more familiar to play on the side of my Neo Lemmix projects and if I'm finding a particular level annoying, I can take a break and focus on the side project for a bit before returning to the main project and it doesn't affect my recording schedule
Although yes, I already know the solutions, I don't remember all of them (especially the Pickaxe and One levels) plus many of the levels have removed backroutes and glitches, so there will still be a blind aspect as well. Also, as this is my first time working with NeoLemmix, I wanted something I know I can beat, because I hate not finishing projects because they're too hard. Plus, when winter semester of college is over in a few weeks, I'm not sure how often I'll be able to record videos.
Would you be willing to try my pack Flopsy but only problem is it is only on lemmini at the moment. :)
Here's my pack here on an attachment.
I don't think they are too hard, maybe one or two of the levels.
I only have 20 levels on mine.
That's a good suggestion grams88 but I can't get Lemini or SuperLemini to work for some reason. The installation fails to install it properly and always says a certain file is missing when it isn't.
I can't remember the exact details but I never pursued the problem because Neo Lemmix is so much better.
I could have another look at installing it and seeing it I can sort the problem out but for now I can't play it :(
Check if the file in question is set to Read-Only, and if so, change it to not read-only. Even though (Super)Lemmini doesn't modify the files, this can sometimes cause problems.
This is the exact error message I get when trying to run SuperLemini
*Red Cross*
"Resource extraction failed
Unable to copy C:\Users\.....\WINLEMM\SOUND\BANG.WAV to C:\Users\......\SuperLemini\sound\bang.wav"
I don't make it past the extraction screen, the program just shuts down with that error message. I remember this is what stopped me before so I gave up in the end.
Yep, that's the file that it fails on for most people.
Copy your WINLEMM folder to the root of your C: drive and try extracting from that. Does that help?
I want to do another Lemmings Let's Play soon and I can't decide between Lemmings Plus I and Revenge of the Lemmings. I made a poll to see which people would rather see me play. I look forward to seeing the results! :)
Lemmings Plus I; a big update for Revenge of the Lemmings is currently in discussion (http://www.lemmingsforums.net/index.php?topic=2821.0).
Even though LPI is my pack, I really couldn't decide as ROTL really is a great pack with a large variety of challenges (and since I've played it myself, it's still one that I could watch). But Wafflem raises a good point - ROTL is getting an update in the near future; while Lemmings Plus I is long-since-finalized and these days is generally only updated if it's needed for compatibility with newer NeoLemmix versions (this is actually true for all Lemmings Plus games, with the obvious exception of Lemmings Plus V).
I also think you should wait until the update is finished before you do ROTL
Revenge of the Lems will be complete in at least 1-2 weeks [maybe longer but should not be too much longer] The hardest part to do really is re-create one level and fix the backrouted levels.
So I guess it depends on how soon you want to begin you next LP. :P Both packs are great and I'd suggest both.
I'd guess ROTL would take longer because of more levels, not sure how different they are in difficulty.
QuoteI'd guess ROTL would take longer because of more levels, not sure how different they are in difficulty.
LPI is probably a fair bit easier.
Of course, it isn't a total walk in the park, especially once you get to Psycho.
Just a note by the way - I tend to at least sometimes pay attention to "does the music fit the level", and Lemmings Plus I was designed with the Master System version soundtrack in mind. For best results, grab the Master System music pack (http://www.neolemmix.com/old/musicpacks/Orig_SMS_Music.zip). :) (To use it, put it in the "music" subfolder of wherever your NeoLemmix.exe is. If the "music" folder doesn't exist, create it.)
I think I've called dibs on Revenge of the Lemmings anyway, it's definitely on my next batch of projects after I finish some of my current ones: Sublems, Deceit, LP Omega and Lix Community Pack (which will all be recommencing from August 29th week commencing , sorry for being away for so long).
Again even I myself would consider waiting for the ROTL update to be completed.
Lemmings Plus I is a long pack, it has an easy first 2 ranks but the last 3 are tricky to borderline insane! You'll enjoy it, I know I did when I played it. It was my first pack after the Introduction pack and it was a real challenge near the end.
QuoteLemmings Plus I is a long pack, it has an easy first 2 ranks but the last 3 are tricky to borderline insane!
I think that's a bit of an exaggeration. Lemmings Plus III is insane; Lemmings Plus I (and even II) are just crazy. :P
I've seen rtw play the first 2.4 ranks of LPI, and from what I've seen and can remember, none of the levels I saw looked that hard. I appreciate that, since I like levels I can solve.
I plan to start the Let's Play sometime in September after I finish the projects I'm working on now (except Pikmin 3; that will take a while).
As far as LPI music goes while I do like the Master System music, I am planning on using either the DOS music as that is my personal favorite version or using the custom loop I have made. Or, I might shake the music up like I did in my Lemmings Let's Play. Thanks for all of the input! :D

to anyone reading: I shouldn't have put this deadline up. I don't really have a deadline I'm just working on it and I can say that there's not a ton of work to do anymore, but I have no idea when it will be done.
I'm very bad at giving myself or others a deadline.
It looks like I'll be playing Lemmings Plus I by popular demand! I'll be starting after I finish my contest videos.
One other option now that it's out: You could try Lemmings Plus V. You'd definitely be the first to do a video play of it, and it's also guaranteed solvable on the experimental version (which means you get those cool features like shadow bridges).
I did contemplate that, but I have already started recording LPI and LPV looks a bit too difficult for me at the current moment. :)
I've been following these as they come out (or as I notice them, which is generally within 24 hours or so of them coming out) and I'm quite impressed with how quick you've gotten through it. You've already gotten as far in three videos as RTW got in his entire playthrough. :P
With that being said...
Spoilers about nature of next level; no solution spoilers
I really don't know whether it's just coincidence that RTW stopped there, or if it's because the next level stumped him. You described Medi 8 as LPI's "I Have A Cunning Plan", I would say Medi 16 fits that description much more than Medi 8 does. ;) It's definitely LPI's most significant case of "this level is way too hard for its position".

I think it is better to play through the series in order anyway, if anyone gets to LPV it will be me eventually. I'm going to prioritise getting through LPO and LPIV from here on just to get to LPV.
Once I finish Deceit and Sublems, I will not start any new projects after those and focus on Lemmings Plus and Lix. The only exception to this is as soon as Lemmingbytes comes out, I promised Wafflem I would play his pack as soon as he releases it so everything else may go on hold then.
Due to wanting to get to LPV as quickly as possible as well, I am going to skip other LP packs for now and just do LPO and LPIV before attempting LPV.
So, I just thought I'd get people's opinions, I'm already thinking about my next lemmings let's play (which most likely will not be until February 2017) and I want more suggestions. Right now the two I'm tossing around are Revenge of the Lemmings and Lemmings: Reunion. I guess I should ask:
1) Will Revenge of the Lemmings V3.0 be released in time?
2) How hard is Lemmings: Reunion? If it's significantly harder than PimoLems, then I doubt I'll be able to solve it. Then again, I've had a big surge in self-confidence since I beat LPI and the stream levels quickly, so maybe I am good enough.
Please give me your thoughts. :D
I've been considering working on Revenge again soon, so it will probably be finished by Feb. (in one form or another, more on that later...)
If you struggle with Lemmings Reunion (or any pack for that matter) you could always get hints and help from Icho or the people who know how to solve it. :)
When I was trying to solve Deceit Mayhem 21, with your guy's help that was quite fun :D
Lemmings Reunion is definitely a hard pack. I've been wanting to play that pack since I started my Neo Lemmix let's plays and I ask in the IRC if they think that's a good idea.
I think since beating Lemmings Plus III, some have said I'm ready for it but I'm not so sure now.
I'd definitely recommend Revenge if it's ready although I might be playing it too if SEB Lems is still not released by February. It has a lot of levels which are from many years ago. It's like a best of pack from many different authors
Flopsy: You are definitely 100% ready for Reunion after beating so many packs! Compared to nowdays I would even say it's not that hard for the most part. As I look back I am even asking myself what I was thinking when creating some of the levels :P
Arty: Give it a try! I am sure that you can beat most of the game without bigger problems. If you get stucked really hard at some point you could ask for a hint or simply skip the level and try it again at a later point. Remember that you already beat rank 5 level 16 + rank 5 level 2 in PimoLems, so have no fear ;)
Castle Rush was in the Nightmare rating? That level wasn't that bad.
Have you played Revenge of the Lemmings yet, I dare ask?
I have not
Quoteyou already beat rank 5 level 16 + rank 5 level 2 in PimoLems
wait what? Are two of Pieuw's levels repeated or tributed in Icho's pack or something? I don't understand.

I rounded up the "Special" rating with the castle levels from 3 to 5. I simply included both "Nightmare!" castle levels from Reunion.
