Title: Have you guys seen this guy's Lemmings artwork?
Post by: Prob Lem on July 25, 2013, 12:35:31 AM
I just stumbled across this artist's website, and it's really pretty cool. Two of the recent works in the Gallery section of the website feature the Lemmings series, to boot! Check it out;

Lemmings vs Escher
Gamehead

I must admit, I've now made the Lemmings vs Escher one my current desktop background, since it looks so damn cool. :P

Hi Prob Lem

I really like a lot MC Escher's artwork especially noticing a lot of his references in video games such as Marble Blaster where there was this one level with the name which I think was called Escher type maze or something like that.   I knew straight away that it was going to be a confusing level which it was.

I was looking through your Plush lemmings thread and something in the thread brought back memories where I used have this similar toy, still have it in the cupboard somewhere.   On the plush lemmings thread it's the third picture down and on the left.  http://www.lemmingsforums.com/index.php?topic=694.0

That toy looks so much like one I used to have, he had a hat on and the black eyes (I used to call him baby David)  No way I'm letting my dog touch baby David she would rip him apart then that would be my memories gone.  :thumbsup:

Are you selling any or is it more like a hobby?  They look nice

One can understand why Escher appeals so much to videogame designers  :P  Lemmings has the level "Tribute to M.C. Escher", and other Escher-themed levels I know of include "Ascending and Descending" (in Lix) and "Belvedere" (in Cheapo).

Anyhow, that's a really great picture! Thanks for sharing it with us  :thumbsup:

It's mindboggling stuff, for sure. There's an Escher-esque flooring and wallpaper set in the Animal Crossing games, too, called "Illusion Floor" and "Illusion Wall". Putting them into an in-game room is certainly confusing for the eyes! :o

Heheh, that's Lemming (it's not the most creative of names, but he's happy with it :P). My grandmother made him for me many years ago. As far as I know, he was based on a pattern by Jean Greenhowe, who designed and still designs a lot of knitting patterns for toys. I think just about every knitting grandmother in the country must have at least one of her booklets!

Thanks very much. :) I'm not selling any at this time - it's just a hobby right now. I do like toy-design - it's great fun, and it lets me put the skills in three-dimensional thinking and planning that I learned from Lemmings 3D to use. :thumbsup:

Lemmings would be utterly, utterly mindboggling if it played like this image. :P Now just watch as someone sees this, and then tries to implement it in an effort to drive us all mad...

No problem. As soon as I saw it, I knew I had to. :D
