Sorry about the downtime earlier on folks, I've got a brief explanation from our web hosts explaining why there was downtime earlier on today.
Message from our web hosts:
Hello,
Site5 experienced a rather large DNS outage this morning as the result of a significant security update from CentOS. The problem resulted from a new CentOS BIND RPM that caused a handful of problems with our customized DNS system. The RPM was a security update from CentOS to address the recently-published BIND vulnerability.
We sincerely apologize for the outage. The update was needed to protect our DNS system from the vulnerabilities in the above exploit that, if used against our DNS servers, would have had far greater repercussions.
We appreciate your patience and understanding during the outage.
Site5
That was... um... very unnoticeable.
The downtime with in the middle of your night! It lasted about 1 hour, so it wasn't too bad. It still means they're fulfilling their 99% uptime promise!
That's good. Hope no one noticed the downtime...
I noticed it, but that was because I was just getting up, and was doing my daily check!
Right now this site mostly has to worry about people posting bad words in the forum games.
I got caught by another little outage while I was posting. It was only for 10 minutes though. Do you know what happened?
Hii!
Not entirely sure what happened. I didn't get any email, so I'm guessing someone pressed the wrong button! At least it was only a short downtime!
Adam
Is it just me, or did the site go down for a couple of minutes recently?
