Title: Postal news
Post by: Minim on July 30, 2009, 07:12:59 PM
25/12/14 (12/25/14)
We created 1,000 topics! Now that's what I call a milestone, especially considering the timing of the post and the fact that the server may be moving soon. Thanks, and Merry Christmas to everyone!

15/7/14 (7/15/14)
We have now hit 20,000 (legitimate) posts! Further (positive) details in my post. Congratulations!

14/03/13 (03/14/13)
It's been a long time since I updated this, but I've noticed that all of our contributors have hit the 15,000 post mark! A user called 'The Lemmings Encyclopedia' triggered this postal milestone.

26/06/11 (06/26/11)
As Clam Spammer said in his last post, the forum is popular enough to hit the 10000 post mark!! It took over 2 years to do that since the forum started, but what an outstanding achievement that we have made to keep the forum running! Fantastic!

14/10/09 (10/14/09)
We have overtaken the 5858 mark from the '06-'09 lemmings forum! Now I know why this forum is more popular than any other lemmings forums that were there.

11/10/09 (10/11/09)
I would have reached 600 posts if these never-ending forum game posts would not count. Anyway, I have something to show you on the last post.

24/9/09 (9/24/09)
Big news, We are at 5000! We have your winner at the last page.

11/9/09 (9/11/09)
There are 2000 posts on the Lemmings Discussion forums!

6/9/09 (9/6/09)
I've hit 4000!  That is amazing that we've hit 2000 on the 30th of July compared to nothing on the 24th of May when the forums have started. The Lemmings forum is getting more popular now!

5/9/09 (9/5/09)
Clam Spammer turns into SUPERLEMMING! Fantastic!

2/9/09 (9/2/09)
I've turned into SUPERLEMMING! Although this could be my breaking point. See "The Fast" to explain why.

31/8/09 (8/31/09 ET or 8/30/09)
The number of posts have reached the 3500 mark. I'll tell you who the winner is at the bottom of the page. Mind you, he started a new topic in the Lemmings discussion sub-forum.

27/8/09 (8/27/09)
When I just turned up, 1500 posts were made in the the Lemmings Discussion Sub-forums!

21/8/09 (8/21/09)
I've posted the 750th post on the Games sub-forum! Even though I am starting to turn away from the forum games, I especially wanted to do it. 250 posts in 12 days. Incredible!

17/8/09 (8/17/09)
I've posted the 400th post on the level designing discussion, and the postal mark is almost hitting 3000!

13/8/09 (8/13/09)
There are 120 topics now with 4 of them locked, one by me and three by Adam, making a total of 116 unlocked topics. And I've posted my 250th post on the lemmings forums, even though I am the latest member to enter!

11/8/09 (8/11/09)
An addictive brand new forum game is increasing the number of posts very quickly! Me, namida and sometimes Yawg were currently playing "Single letter word game" which already has got a lot of posts. namida is on Mayhem as he has posted over 250! (First time I looked he was on tricky with less than 100 posts). I've made a table of user postal milestones for each level.

31/7/09 (7/31/09)
The 1000 mark on the number of Lemmings Discussion posts has been hit! The user who triggered the 1000th Lemmings Discussion post was...

30/7/09 (7/30/09)
I've been through the statistics page and now, the number of posts have reached the 2000 mark by all users (Including me) over the past two months (To be precise, the first post started on 24th May 2009). Luckily, I was anticipated enough to post the 2000th post of this lemmings forum.

Wow.  This forum has certainly gotten quite the attention, huh?

Well, I think since there aren't many users posting nowadays, I still think you've done the most work! I'm proud of you, aren't I? Oh no... I once said I was jealous of you. :-\

It seems as if these forums are much more active than they used to be.

Great job on the 2000 posts, fellas.

"ccexplore"! You have posted the 1000th Lemming Discussion post! Congratulations!!!

Do you have to change the name of this topic every time there is new postal news?

I'm getting sick of your curiosity Dullstar. >:( I want to. It is my topic you know.

While I don't care for postcount milestones (personal or otherwise), it's great to see the Lemmings community is still going strong. Heck, it's even picked up since the forum move.

The only thing I'm jealous about is that Dullstar has over 500 of his own posts.
It's doubled now! :o He's turning into a chatterbox!

minimac94, I know that the overall forum statistics on posting are, but in my opinion personal post counts don't matter too much.
Title: Re: Postal news

Fun: 0
Tricky: 50
Taxing: 100
Mayhem: 250
Superlemming: 500

If there's anything above SuperLemming, I'll probably end up accidentally discovering it.  :XD:

Yes, you're right actually. What a discovery that was. For goodness sake it's not accidental you know.

It's accidental in my eyes.

Clam Spammer! I know you don't care about milestones but you've posted the 3500th post on the overall Lemmings forums!

I don't really care about personal statistics, like I said, but forum statistics can be fascinating.  We now have three members at the "SuperLemming!" level.
Title: Re: Postal news
Post by: Clam on September 05, 2009, 10:10:07 PM
Wow, no one ever made 500 posts on the old forum. In fact, five of us have already posted more here than anyone did on the Lemmings Community site. I wonder how the rest of the ranking system went on that forum (presumably the rest of the Lemmings 2 tribes, but in what order?)

And I wonder if this forum has another surprise waiting for us at 1000 posts.
PLEASE don't take this as an incentive to spam the forum...

I doubt i'll be the one finding out. In fact, i'd be suprised if I even reach SuperLemming before the new year! :P

I wonder how the rest of the ranking system went on that forum (presumably the rest of the Lemmings 2 tribes, but in what order?)

Took a quick look, and it looks like it goes anti-clockwise from Beach, so that would be...
Beach > Outdoor > Egyptian > Medieval (can't find a poster with this rank) > Classic > Circus > Highland > Polar > Space > Cavelem > Shadow > Sports.

Nobody got further than Polar.
Title: Re: Postal news
Post by: Clam on September 05, 2009, 11:16:44 PM
I just thought of that before I saw your post, but I don't have the map in front of me so I wasn't sure. That makes sense.

Medieval (can't find a poster with this rank)

There are two. Both disappeared some time ago, and neither of them has registered here (at least under the same name). Were you registered on the old forums? If not then you won't be able to see the members list - apparently it's not possible to register there now. Which makes sense, I suppose.

No, I wasn't on the old forums, so I had to hunt around a bit. :P

I didn't find that site when I was looking for a dedicated Lemmings forum. This place, though, is brilliant, and has helped a lot in improving the way I play Lemmings.

It's Clam Spammer again! His last post reached 5000 on the lemmings forums!

By the way, It's incredible that we reached 5000 in just four months.
Title: Re: Postal news
Post by: Clam on September 24, 2009, 09:16:38 PM
Wow, that is amazing :o

I should mention that we're closing in on an even greater milestone - 5858, the total number of posts made on the last forum in it's 3 years of existence.
Title: Re: Postal news
Post by: ccexplore on October 01, 2009, 09:18:57 PM
I don't usually pay attention to this kind of things, but I just noticed today I'm now "SuperLemming!" and I have to say, having that next to my username does kinda make me feel special. ;)  Certainly more so than the more drab-sounding rankings of "Fun", "Tricky", "Taxing" etc (maybe it's the exclamation point ;P).

I'm assuming SuperLemming is when you reach 500 posts?  I do notice that other people who have a few hundred more posts than I do still have the same ranking, so I guess the next milestone in ranking is 1000 posts?
Title: Re: Postal news
Post by: Mr. K on October 02, 2009, 05:43:08 AM
Actually SuperLemming is it.

I admit my ranks aren't very creative-- or extensive.  But at least the progression is more logical than the old Lemmings 2 tribes.
Title: Re: Postal news
Post by: Clam on October 02, 2009, 06:07:32 AM
Considering the rates of posting on the old forum, you never expected anyone to even reach 500 posts, did you? ;P
Title: Re: Postal news
Post by: Dullstar on October 03, 2009, 02:04:57 AM
I know this probably will never occur to anyone on these forums, except after many years, but on my website there's a joke rating after 42,000 posts.  Can anyone guess what it is?  And by the way, no one's even close to it (understatement, we don't have very many members, let alone active ones), so you can't just check the members list to find it.

I'm guessing it may have something to do with the answer to life, the universe and everything.

I managed to get this message:

Quote from: Warning message
Warning: this topic has not been posted in for at least 120 days.
Unless you're sure you want to reply, please consider starting a new topic.

Why would I start a new topic? :-\ I don't understand. ???
Title: Re: Postal news
Post by: Dullstar on October 11, 2009, 06:52:49 PM
Eh?  What topic?
I think that can be turned off, but I don't know if it can be by the members on their own preferences.  I'll have to check.

Okay, so it can be turned off by admins only (which I only know from my own website).

Why would I start a new topic? :-\ I don't understand. ???

I think this message is more useful on larger forums, where threads get buried really deep in the space of 4 months. I've seen this on CivFanatics - what happens is that newer forumers (and sometimes other forumers too) read the thread without realising it's months old, and then post a reply to something that was said monmths ago. And, of course, if the thread is really old, the people who posted there aren't around on the forum any more. By starting a new topic, you avoid this.

For this forum as it is now, I can't see this option being useful.

Eh?  What topic?
I'm guessing this one. (Notice how I underlined the link. ;))

We've done it. In less than 5 months, with a fragmented community still rebuilding after the last forum move, we've made more posts here than were made in almost three years on the old forum. That's some real dedication right there (or maybe just too much free time? Nah... it's dedication all right. ;)) Well done everyone!

That's the weirdest thing.  It's like Lemmings just had a huge burst in popularity.  I guess stabilizing its location and stuff was a good idea.
Title: Re: Postal news
Post by: ccexplore on October 16, 2009, 12:17:05 AM
I wonder how many of the posts are part of a challenge thread.  Those kinds of threads are practically post-making machines, and we've had like probably close to a dozen of those threads here. ;P  It certainly feels like I've played the official Lemmings levels 12 times more than I ever had back in the early forum days. ;)
Title: Re: Postal news
Post by: Clam on October 16, 2009, 03:04:55 AM
Actually, I wonder if challenge threads would warrant their own board, considering that Lemmings Discussion has way more posts than any other board and challenge posts make up a significant chunk of that. And if there was a separate board for them, you wouldn't have to wonder - you could just look at the stats page.
Title: Re: Postal news
Post by: Simon on October 16, 2009, 04:33:18 AM
I was thinking about that, too. This is a very good idea.

One can think about if it's better to put anything relating to the original games' levels into the new forum, I don't know if that yields more structure. This doesn't dry down Lemmings Discussion, it will still have lots of level-independent talk.

You mean throw reviews in there as well? I'm not sure, I'd personally prefer that challenges had their own board. That way we can find them easily, and maybe we'd get some more activity in the unfinished challenge threads. Plus making it separate would give the board its own unique "flavour" - it would be a great place for expert level solvers to discuss things. (Possibly not so good for everyone else, though.)

Yeah, I'd love to... but I'm not an admin and I can't mess with the forum structure.

I just did a quick count of challenge posts in Lemmings Discussion. It looks like 1415 of the 2949 posts there are in challenge threads. That's easily more than any other board.

I'm with Clam Spammer, that's a very good idea. Why don't we vote on it? If many of us like this idea, maybe Mr. K could make a challenges board.

As of right now, this forum has 10000 posts! Sadly, the second 5000 took much, much longer than the first (about 21 months, compared to just 4 months), but still, we made it! Well done everyone!

This post by Insane Steve marks 11716 posts total - that's double the total on the previous forum.

Oops, didn't I once say I don't care about milestones? :P
Title: Re: Postal news
Post by: Clam on March 15, 2013, 06:16:23 AM
As noted in various places already, the forum now has 15000 posts. And the third 5000 took (to the nearest whole month) 21 months, same as the previous 5000!

+1 for consistency! :P
Title: Re: Postal news
Post by: Minim on July 15, 2014, 06:31:10 AM
I've hit 20000 posts!! :o That's ten times the number of posts I've originally stated on this thread. This 5000 mark took exactly 16 months, much faster than the previous. This forum is really picking up now that we have more interesting users! (as well as namida's return to the forum :P). 25,000 is coming up soon... Then maybe we'll stop updating until we reach 50,000...

Edit: I also forgot to mention that we have 900 topics. That means the average number of post per topic is 22.22... Quite interesting bit of maths maybe?
